I feel very discouraged after reading some of these reviews. I hope everyone reading this will look at the big picture and realize these comments were made 2 years ago. A lot of good things can come about in 2 years. My sister just passed away at sandpiper after a long battle with dementia. I spent the last 3 days at her bedside and I couldn't help but feel guilty for not being there more often even though she didn't know who I was when I did visit. I worried she felt lonely but after spending those last days with her, I was blessed to realize just how amazing the staff really is and how much they loved her. They made a nursing home feel like a loving home. I wasn't going to mention names but I've always been a person who believes good work should be appreciated. One of the night nurses, Erin was by far the best nurse I've ever met. Her level of compassion is unmeasurable.

My mother broke her femur in February. I could not get a local hospital to listen and remove her from a medicene that she was allergic too. The first Rehab she went too left her lay in bed for four weeks causing two hemotomas and her surgery had to be redone. She was placed on a second medicene that caused incontenince, and continued on the med that she was allergic too. All the while the first Skilled nursing facility lied to me. At least at Deseret, they listened, they removed the negative medicene, they balanced her diabetes, they had her out of bed, bed sores healed, and walking again. I have not found it dirty, or smelling any worse than any other Skilled nursing facility in town. The staff has been caring, professional, and on board with the treatment plan . It is not new or pretty but well worth the healing experience and investment.
Rhis place was okay to work at until the residents get tired of you, and they will do and say anything to get you fired. It's supposed to be 2 aides a nurse, and a Med aide. Usually they run short staff and are forced to do dangerous things like using a Hoyer lift all by ourselves and transferring residents with faulty equipment. The pay is okay..until you see and experience all that is required of you. I would not recommend this facility to a friend as a place to work and would not recommend as a facility to send your family to. There usually is not enough staff to ensure each resident gets the care they deserve and pay for. They have no working pagers either. No way to efficiently pass ice water, ect..the list goes on and on of problems with this facility. Steer clear!
