Although the ambiance is similar to many restaurants, the similarity ends there. I have been going there for quite some time, and the food is consistant for every visit. I have been to many Chinese restaurants in Wichita over the years, and the quality and taste of the menu is second to none. One thing that is a plus, is that they DO NOT have a buffet. I asked if they ever would, and they replied "no", as they couldn't maintain the quality and their food "is QUALITY". I also don't want to forget to mention that evening diners will be treated to homemade dinner rolls and warm fresh cinnamon rolls. All I can do is to urge everyone that is looking for a restaurant that serves authentic Chinese food and with servings that will fill anyone, is to give them a try. They are open wednesday thru monday, closed on tuesday.
Try the Sunday Lunch Special---decent price and fresh, excellent food! On the regular menu, my fave is Pork Subgum Chow Mein, and I always order sides of Crab Rangoon (delicious) and Mandu (outstanding); the Combination Fried Rice is also quite tasty. The ambiance is a little strange, as the building looks as if it might have been a gas station in a former life, but the owner has dressed it up with the decor, including the usual colorful aquarium. There is a bar in the raised dining area (with handicapped access), and nicely-appointed sit-down seating throughout (no buffet here!!). Service is good, and generously-portioned meals arrive piping hot. One drawback: this restaurant is NOT open for lunch on Saturdays!!!!
We called about 30 minutes before we got there-they put our name on the list so we had to wait maybe 5-10 minutes. The seating is very cozy-we were sat in one of the huge booths even hough there were only 2 of us. Candle lit on the table-dim lighting. Small space but it works, they also have an outdoor area! Waiter was nice-could have been more friendly but everyone has their off day! Pretty good wine list as well as mixed drinks and beers. Good menu-lots of options! We did the dinner for two which was $40.00-it was well worth the money for the amount of food you get. Our food was out of this world good! Cannot wait to go back and try more.
The food is excellent and this restaurant has a great variety from which to choose. They offer some American dishes, too. Lots of fruit, veggies and a huge dessert bar, as well. The only detrement I found was the "help". They tend to hang around and watch everything the customers do. They kind of hover while you're filling your plate, then sit in the dining room and watch you eat. It may have been because when I went it was about 3:30 pm and my friend and I were the only patrons and maybe they had nothing better to do. It was uncomfortable to be watched during the entire meal. Great food, though and worth the prying eyes.
The food is excellent!! When I first started dating my wife, she took me here, she said it was her favorite place, and I can see why. The CHICKEN WINGS ARE OFF THE CHART!!!!! We love the beef rice as well, NOT beef fried rice, just BEEF RICE. At first you might look at it oddly, but just trust me on this one. Staff is super friendly as well!!
I love this place. My family went to Beijing Bistro about a few weeks ago, their food was delicious, we ordered their teriyaki ribeye, happy family, fried rice and egg foo yong. There's nothing compare to those buffets or the take out little places. We enjoyed the meal, service and environment. this place has became my families weekly tradition.
My family and I have been really pleased with the few meals we have had here. All of it was tasty and served very hot. I'd strongly recommend everything we've tried; Beef & Broccoli, Beef & Pepper, Pork Fried Rice, Sesame Chicken & Generals Chicken. It's worth trying and puts other fast food Chinese I've tried to shame!
After many attempts at a great fried rice's Terayaki dish, cook fresh. I'm excited...and I would love to share this meal with you this place. Nobody tell you the secret hiding menu behind the kitchen....like me :)) I love it...best fry rice and the best in Wichita town is here. Sailortruong
This is the best place for Chinese food anywhere. A date took me there in 1980 I was 16. their ad says they've been in business since 1997 but that was the year of the fire. My entire family loves to eat there too. they know me by name when i go in and that is a personal touch I enjoy.
when I do not have time to cook the king is the place i will call for pick up. they know my name and what i like to eat, it,s good food at at a low price. friendly owner and it takes 5 to 10 minutes to pick up your order. I eat there 1 or 2 times a week.
