To start off I will say this resturant has very good BBQ, best in town. However, one bad experience will truly overshadow any good experiences. We visited the resturant on a Saturday evening. Naturally it appeared to be plenty busy but at the time we thought it was worth the wait. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, again not a big deal. What turned out to be a routine visit quickly took a sharp turn for the worse. The hostess, informed us we could be seated but that it would be a while before a waitress could be with us. We were seated and waited 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order. Then while waiting for our food, over an hour we waited, the waitress only came to our table once to refill our drinks. We were given every excuse as to why thing were taking so long and as to why the waitress failed to do her job. The owner came to our table to see what our complaints were and instead of apologizing, he had the audacity to ask what we said and did to make our waitress not want to come to our table! This floored me. It was beyond unprofessional. To top everything off instead of offering to take a percentage off of our ticket, the offered us dessert which clearly at 9pm no one was interested in. We left the resturant extremely angry and disappointed in the behavior of the employees as well as the staff. On a Saturday night it's easier to over schedule staff and send them home early if needed than to try and run an entire resturant with 4 waitress to work several tables of 10+. We will NEVER
Our family loves Hog Wild food. It's always fresh and served by friendy people. We especially like the food at 47th St South and Broadway in Wichita. Same menu, but seems to taste better. The smoked meats are always tender and juicy. The ribs are the best and they have great tasting BBQ sauce -- hot or mild. Not real wild about the cole slaw, but the curly fries are another reason to go. Best fries in Wichita. Baked beans and mashed potatoes and gravy are really good, too. We've ordered slabs of ribs to go and they warm up in the microwave nicely if you don't chow down on them right away as soon as you get home.
This unassuming building blends in with the others around it, suggesting anything but the miraculous eatery within. All the classic barbecue items make an appearance, including pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage links, spicy hot links, chicken, turkey, slaw, salad fixins, breads, beans, and the like. The real eye opener is the slow-smoked flavor and the realization that all of these delicious foods are (gasp!) limitless. Definitely worth checking out, but I warn you now that there's no turning back.
