I went to wichita auto salvage to look at a car they had for sale. Joe told me he wanted $1000 for the car. Me being the wheel and dealing kinda guy like most, I asked him what kind of deal he would make me. Then he freaks out and says I ain't taking a penny less then 1000 and if you don't like it leave!
The old man is lucky I don't have an anger problem because I could have easliy broke his hip and not have thought twice about it.
Anyways I will not be doing anymore business with WAS.
And I hope this helps others know to choose a different salvage yard.
I will never buy anything from this salvage yard again. If you buy something with a warranty make sure you get it in writing. I purchased a motor from Wichita Auto Salvage and had it put in by a local mechanic shop. When I first received the car after the motor had been replaced it had an oil leak. I bought the motor in January and since then I've had my car back less than 2 weeks due to it constantly being in the shop for an oil leak. It is now the end of March and as of March 21st the oil pan had been replaced 4 times and after the 4th time I found that the block was cracked. My mechanic took the photo's to Joe at wichita auto salvage and Joe said he wasn't going to cover it. When I spoke to Joe he was a complete jerk and told me "I have never seen a G** Da** cracked block leak G** Da** oil ever before." Joe told me it was past his 30 day warranty and all he garauntee's is that the motor run good and not smoke. I spoke to Joe once prior to this day before telling him who I was, I asked him what does his warranty cover if I were to buy a motor from him. Joe said I garauntee it to run good, not smoke, and not use oil. I told Joe I was having to add 1/4 of a quart a day and that it was smoking when I started the car. Joe told me the smoke is just a small valve leak and isn't an issue and an oil leak is an easy problem to fix. Apparently not!!!! I would also like to add that someone had put silicone on the crack of the block in an attempt to try to conceal the problem. I'm no mechanic by any means however I do know that a cracked block is a huge problem with any vehicle. It should also be known that Joe didn't get this engine shipped from another yard, it came out of a car in his yard. I would also like to rate this Salvage yard as AWFUL!!!!! I gave them one whole star because it doesn't break it into a fraction.
