Cryotherapy
With early detection, a torn retina can be repaired with a laser procedure, or with cryotherapy (freezing), which seals the retina to the back wall of the eye. These treatments are performed in the office and cause little or no discomfort. In addition, a retinal tear can be treated using pneumatic retinopexy, an in-office procedure in which a gas bubble is injected inside the eye. This gas bubble pushes the retinal tear back against the eye of the wall, holding the retinal tear closed.

Ophthalmologists

Glaucoma
Is the most common form of glaucoma. It accounts for over 90% of all cases, and the risk of developing it increases with age. With open-angle glaucoma, the angle of the iris and cornea remains open, but the aqueous fluid drains too slowly. This causes an increase in eye pressure, potentially damaging the optic nerve. This type of glaucoma produces no tangible symptoms in the early stages. In fact, it progresses so slowly and painlessly that unless you have been receiving annual eye exams, you may not be aware of any vision loss until the optic nerve is already damaged.
Ophthalmology
Dr. Marc Mintz is a board-certified ophthalmologist who received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Education and had a private practice for 17 years before joining Marshburn Eye Center in 1999. He has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating eye diseases. Currently, Dr. Mintz specializes in comprehensive medical ophthalmology.
Macular Degeneration
It is most often an age-related disease, commonly diagnosed in people ages 50 and older. A family history of macular degeneration and/or cigarette smoking are also contributing factors.
Cataracts
Cataracts are found to a greater or lesser degree in up to 65 percent of persons in their sixties and in over 80 percent of persons age 70 and older.

Dr. Chhadva is a valuable addition to our community as a highly skilled ophthalmologist with a comprehensive, patient-centered approach. She brings with her the most advanced techniques in ophthalmic surgery to provide our patients with excellence in corneal diseases, cataract surgery, and anterior segment surgery.
Eye Exam
As an added convenience and personal service to our patients, Marshburn Eye Center provides an Optical Boutique on our premises. Following an eye exam, patients can visit out Optical Boutique where our friendly, skilled opticians fill their prescription for glasses and/or contact lenses. However, you need not be our patient to visit the Optical Boutique: anyone is welcome to come shop and browse, and no appointment is necessary.

Diabetic Retinopathy
During a medical examination, an ophthalmologist at Marshburn Eye Center will dilate your pupil and look at the inside of your eye with a specialized lens. In this manner, a case of serious retinopathy can often be diagnosed before you are aware of any vision problems. If the doctor diagnoses diabetic retinopathy, he may order color photographs of the retina or a fluorescein angiography to determine if you need treatment.

Ultrasound
Cataracts are removed using ultrasound energy, through a small incision made in the cornea. Once the cataract is removed, it is replaced with a clear intraocular lens.

Plastic Surgeons

Botox
As we age, our skin naturally becomes less elastic due to a combination of factors, such as genetics and sun exposure. Botox, is an injectible neurotoxin that relaxes muscles for three months or more. This product is especially effective at treating brow lines and ‘crow’s feet’ around the eyes.
