My wife and I love our Canadel...

My wife and I love our Canadel furniture, everything was perfect. We visited a few stores in NJ (We live in NJ) before heading out to Dinette World and found it had the best prices. Very friendly staff! Made everything easy.

Horrible service, untrustworthy

We ordered a large armoire from Dinette World. Because we live out of the delivery area, my family who lives in the Lehigh Valley offered to pick it up and bring it to our home 2 hours away. When I set up the pick up with the store manager, I asked that my father be able to look over the piece. The manager told me that would not be possible because it would be a hassle to repack it. He assured me the furniture would be thoroughly checked for damage (1st lie). As soon as we opened it in our home, we noticed damage on the one door. We called immediately and were told a new door would be delivered to us (2nd lie). Weeks passed (credit card paid), we called again to be told we would have to bring the entire armoire back to the store and pick up a new one. (This is a very large piece). When I told the manager that was unfair, and the situation could have been avoided if we could have looked the piece before taking it, he said it was our fault for not making an appt. for the pick-up (3rd lie). I had informed the manager over the phone exactly when my family was coming. He told me had a bad neck so I would have to ensure four other people would be there to lift the piece. I agreed to that, and lined up help for my father. Oddly the manager has no recollection of that phone conversation OR when I called back to say the extra help would definitely be there. (4th lie).



The bottom line is Dinette World was happy to place the order and take our money, but when it came to us being satisified with the merchandise they did not care at all. I would advise everyone not to buy from this company. They lie to their customers, and do not take responsibility for their product.

We pride ourselves on our customer service, and will assist our customers to the best of our ability. While we normally do not respond to customer complaints in venues such as this, understanding that experiences and perceptions between customer and retailer often differ, we felt that that the situation reported here was unfair and warranted a response. First, we would never discourage a customer from opening an item before leaving with it. If the customer checks the piece before leaving, we can be certain the piece left our store in good condition, and that any damage later reported would be the customer's responsibility. It was the customer who decided not to open the item, as they did not want to take the time to repack it. They made this decision despite having the knowledge that, as the complainant noted, the piece was not checked. It is highly unusual that we not check pieces before the customer receives them. This situation developed because the customer insisted on a Saturday pick-up the night before. While we normally do not allow Saturday pick-ups because there are no warehouse employees working weekends, we agreed in this case because the customer was willing to send enough people to load the item. Once the piece was reported damaged we are, like all retailers, at the mercy of the manufacturer. Extended delays with parts orders are common, and the exchange process can be cumbersome. It is our policy that parts and repairs for pick-ups must be transported by the customer, or they will have to pay the fee required by our contracted delivery service. We regret that the customer was so dissatisfied, but would like to mention that we have been in business since 1977. We would never have survived so long as a furniture retailer if situations like the one reported reported by the customer were how we operated.
