Mike is the most unprofessional and rude business owner I have ever met. Please read all available reviews about him before purchasing anything at American pools in Whitehall.

We received horrible service from the owner/manager and the water/pool tester's. The only person nice was the sweet girl at the front of the store. I cannot believe that a store can be in business over 20 years (so the manager kept telling us and he certainly was proud of it) and treat people in this manner. The counter helper wouldn't even make eye contact with us when we brought our water in for testing. And forget about asking questions, because they have no interest!! Their only concern is how fast they can test the water and give you a print out so you spend a couple-hundred dollars on chemicals that don't help! Only to come back in two days later and get the same run around but now you are told you need a different plethora of chemicals!! And PLEASE beware if you try to return an item that is substandard!! You will be made to feel as if you are an idiot and told how they've 'never seen this happen and can't believe it did?' ever before in the history of their tenure with the store?! Yeah, okay....these guys should be lucky we live in a predominantly cold climate because they operate with the confidence of knowing there's not a lot of competition out there. TWO THUMBS DOWN American Pools. Very poor customer service and congrats on making your 'customers' feel as if they are bothering you. Not impressed one iota :(

I was buying a automatic pool cleaner for my above ground pool. I stopped at a pool place near my house. Had questions but not much customer service. Went to American Pool and they told me what one was good. Very good customer service.

Mike and his staff are the best. I bought my pool one week and it was installed the next. When I had an issue with the pool, they were quick to resolve it, and helped in any way they could. Their staff are friendly and always willing to help when I walk into the store. I'd recommend them to anyone.

We purchased a pool from Mike Beani at American Pools last fall with the understanding it would be installed and closed for the winter. The pool was installed and paid for. However, when spring time came and they needed to cut the skimmer wholes in the pool and hook up the filter, the install Matt Rex would not return our phone calls. It took over a month of unanswered phone calls to the installer and American Pools to get anywhere. I only received a phone call back after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and contacting an attorney. There were a lot of no shows and no phone calls. Mike kept telling us that this was not his problem HOWEVER he was the one who recommended MATT REX. When Matt finally did come to the house, he hooked the filter incorrectly and without an O ring that was required. Needless to say water was everywhere except where it was suppose to be and all the hoses blew off! WE ARE SURE THAT THIS WAS INTENTIONAL. We had to go to another pool store to get the O ring and the correct hoses. I agree with the other reviewer who said that American Pools is great to deal with until they get your money. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND DEALING WITH. Make sure that if you are purchasing a pool, the installers are NOT outside contractors!

We bought a pellet stove insert from American Recreational and from day 1 had nothing but problems with it. They were out twice and couldn't fix it either time. We returned it after 3 weeks of not working right, but they refused to give us all our money back. Alls they care about is getting paid, they are all buddy buddy with you when your product works but when something doesn't work they could careless and want nothing to do with you. I will never go to them for anything in the future and I recommend unless you want a bunch of hassle that you don't buy from them either
