Gynecology

Infertility treatments include more than in vitro fertilization (IVF). If you’re looking for a different, guided approach to getting pregnant, a fertility specialist can review the treatment options available to you based on your medical history. This could include intrauterine inseminations (IUI), donor sperm, or the removal of endometriosis.
Pregnancy
You can attempt to get pregnant after you’ve recovered from the surgery. If not pregnant three to six months following surgery, a repeat surgery may be performed to determine if the tube is open. Once you have a positive pregnancy test, we recommend early monitoring to rule out an ectopic or tubal pregnancy.

Ultrasound
The process begins with hormonal injections that will stimulate your ovaries to grow multiple eggs at the same time. For about a week and a half, we will monitor your body’s response to stimulation through blood tests and ultrasounds every few days. Once the eggs look “ready” based on hormone levels and ultrasound findings, they are then extracted under anesthesia (through a very brief outpatient procedure).
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy and radiation can destroy follicles in the ovary, speeding the natural decline of ovarian reserve and causing either temporary or even early menopause. These same treatments can also damage sperm-producing cells within the testicles. Not all cancer treatments impact fertility the same way for everyone. We are experienced in collaborating with you, your oncologist and your radiation therapist to pursue fertility preserving treatment options, including sperm freezing and emergent IVF with either embryo or egg freezing. Our goal is to help you preserve your potential to ultimately have a healthy baby.
