Overall

Let me just start this review by saying that if you use Dave's TV Repair service you might be in for the worst experience of your life. Our experience with him over the past year or so has been nothing but a nightmare at best.



It all started out when our 42" LG Plasma developed a problem. We paid $450 for the set, but Dave said it would be $290 to fix it, but was well worth it because it was such a good TV that it would last years and is much better than the ones they make now (only 2 years later). He seemed like a nice guy, we like to support local businesses, so we trusted him. The same problem developed 5 months later (parts were under warranty, but not labor). At this point he said he had some even better TV's and we could have one for $150 or so! We decided to go with that as we didn't know how many times this set would blow, maybe we just had a lemon. We took home another TV, didn't work right so we tried another one. We ended up going through 6 TV's, all with problems, and giving him time to fix them each.... We ended up being without a TV for 2-3 months. We finally got a new one that we loved, and the final agreed upon price was $210 (so now we are into a TV for $950 crazy!). This new TV blew within 3 months and it sucked because we loved the picture. We were told that it was like a new TV with a year warranty (I assumed on parts and labor as we could have gotten that if we bought new!). When we told him he tried to fix this one for about 4-5 weeks. Couldn't be done. He said the TV was zapped by lightening. It was on the same power surge protector as out Comcast/Xfinity main DVR, modem, router, house alarm system and a Logictech - nothing else was affected, amazing.



He also uses cannibalized parts, either from TV's he has or goes to a "TV Junkyard" kind of place and does not tell you, but charges a good deal for them!!!



And if he tells you he has another TV for you and you come in, it will be gone and there is another one there, bait and switch. If he tells you he has watched it for weeks to make sure it is working properly, do not believe it. We even refused one in the shop because it had a green line down one side of it, but he used it for weeks and never noticed it!!!! Right!!!



After 5-6 weeks His offer was a 40" TV but wants $40 for it!!!! I tell him that I would rather go to small claims court. He finally agrees to just 'give' us the TV. My wife says just to take it and have done with this whole episode.



I am sure I am leaving a lot out here, but just wanted to give the basics and warn people: DO NOT USE DAVE'S TV REPAIR SERVICE!!! Other then timing of repair, quality of repair, bait and switch tactics, con games to get more money out of you and a few other things it was all fine (
