I have been going to Ace nails it seems like forever! I think it has been since around 1990! They had a location on 17th street I believe before they moved to this newer location (still in Dupont Circle). I think they do a terrific job - always professional, the place is always clean - including all the instruments - it doesn't smell awful like a lot of nail salons do - in fact, no chemical smell at all ever - and while the staff changes somewhat - the same woman that runs the place - seems to have been there for at least as long as I have been going there. The prices have maybe gone up one or two dollars and are extremely reasonable. I love their hot towels in the winter and how nice everyone is whenever I go. It feels like my own neighborhood cheers bar (without the booze). I've moved in and out of the City and even across country but I always always always go back to Ace Nail.
I went to Envy Nails on a tuesday when they had their manicure and pedicure deal (both for $28). I didn't have an appointment going in but it was like a 5 minute wait trying to get a seat. During the pedicure the didn't scrub my feet as much as I would like the polish was very nice. My toes did not chip yet and I got them done 5 days ago. On the other hand my nails have chipped. It looked nice for the 1st two days but after that it started chipping like crazy. It is a very clean place and you see them clean everything but the polish is m problem. I most likely wouldn't come back here to get my nails done.
After moving to this area almost a year ago, I've been finding it hard to go to a nail salon that is not only great at what they do, but also listens to you. Today I decided to walk from school and experience the salon for myself... I was not disappointed! I got a gel manicure, and I can honestly say my nails have never looked better in my entire life thus far. There is a generous amount of polish and it make my nails feel so strong. I was so excited with the finishing result. I can't wait to come back :)
