There is plenty to love about P&P but my two favorite things are: attending book readings and hanging out in the cafe downstairs. The readings can be fiery or polite or in-your-face provocative. Amazing coffee and great local presence makes this place an awesome DC hangout.

I thought there would be more stores like this in DC. Since this is the political capital of the country I thought there would be more than one store that specializes in political type books. I found some great books on some of the less talked about Presidents of the US. This is a great store.

I’ve frequented Politics and Prose in DC once. No other bookstores in the area had any books about political polling in stock. I was in a rush and could not wait for an online order. I’m very thankful Politics and Prose was around because they saved my bacon with their surprisingly wide selection of books on this topic. I was able to find what I needed and plan on returning again in the future.

P&P is one of if not THE best independent bookstores in D.C. With two floors of books, there is tons to rummage through in this place. They have all the new releases and fad books that the chain stores that start with B have, but so much more. They have a lot more of the independent writings, as well as some of the smaller literary magazines that you can only find on college... read more

I love this bookstore!!! It's quaint with plenty of places to read and I love that it's not a big chain. The staff is very knowledgeable and makes great recommendations about books. The bookstore features authors regularly - I have been to a few readings. The cafe has good drinks and food. There is also a large kids section with lots of books and activities for children. I love PandP because it reminds me of Meg Ryan's bookstore in "You've Got Mail."

Politics and Prose gets the best in-store readings in the Washington DC area. Any author who is anybody will be there. They have a great selection of political books as well as fiction and pretty much anything you are looking for. The prices are average, but they do have some good sales.

Politics and Prose is a great bookstore in DC. It's got a great staff who know a ton about books. The store is located on Connecticut Ave near the intersection of Nebraska and Connecticut. The store has a small cafe downstairs where you can get pastries, coffee, teas, etc. The bookstore often has events where a famous author speaks about his or her new book. I highly recommend visiting this bookstore.

Politics and Prose is one of the few remaining local bookstores. They host book signing- JK Rowling came a few years back- and are great with children and kid's books as well as adults. The coffee is worthwhile. It is great to have local friendliness, coffee, and books in the same place. Come to sit down and enjoy the books and food at the same time. Prices are average. Help is good.

If you're looking for a great bookstore in Washington, DC other than Kramerbooks, be sure to check out Politics and Prose. As the name suggests, they've got a great selection of books that deal with the politics, and they occasionally have interesting guest speakers and book signers that come in. Otherwise it's a great place to spend a rainy afternoon, looking through the shelves of books...

Of all of DC's independent bookstores, this one is the most serious of the bunch, as the name might suggest. It also hosts more events and speakers than the others combined and tends to draw pretty good crowds for most of them. I've been there a few times and each time I go I find something, whether it's a discussion or speech, that I can't get at any other DC bookstore. This one is a true gem for those looking to truly delve into the world of "politics and prose."

If you're a political lefty (and most Washingtonians are) you'll probably love Politics and Prose. The tone is clearly ideological, as is the book selection. They have frequent invited speakers and the staff seems knowledgeable about the merchandise. I believe this store has run into controversy in the past though for refusing to order books by certain well-known conservative authors, so keep the ideological tenor of the place in mind when you go.

Politics & Prose is a great place to read, browse books, and simply hang out. There are two levels with a nice coffee shop downstairs. The store frequently has invited guests. I saw Howard Zinn recently promoting his newest publication. This place is a great local shop with a membership club, staff picks, store events, and a book club. It's got its own character and sits in a nice neighborhood.

Politics and Prose is a fantastic book store - knowledgeable staff, good selection, great speaker series. I love the weekly email subscription, which describes upcoming events, top sellers of the week and providers reccommendations. Cute little coffee shop inside too. It's the kind of store that appeals to families, yuppies and all sorts of book lovers. While the space is small, the intimate setting is a great place to listen to authors talk... read more

This is a wonderful local bookstore, with a great selection of all kinds of wonderful books--both local and bestsellers! The aisles and rows are a great place to go on the prowl for another single young Washingtonian--that's why it's usually packed on Saturday nights!A fun place to meet, hang out all day, or simply go to one of their great author events!

Great local bookstore and some good coffee. Even better since it is the only coffee house in the surrounding blocks. Politics & Prose is jam packed with good books and intersting gifts items. You can find something for someone that has everything. You know everyone needs a good new book. It is great afternoon excape from the heat.

Tired of the megabookstore? Think Borders and Barnes & Noble duking it out for turf across the street from each other is getting to be a bit trite? Check out Politics & Prose, a fabulous independent bookstore in Northwest DC. P&P not only has a large selection of books and clever gifts for smart people, it has a large and constantly changing selection of remaindered books in the basement - which means students... read more
