General Info:
Bistrot du Coin opened its doors on Memorial Day of 2000 by Yannis Felix and Michel Verdon. The motto is French, Fun and Friendly, this is our guideline to bring you the best experience ever at Bistrot Du Coin. The word Bistrot is defined in French as a neighborhood restaurant where you can eat good food at a fair price. The typical color of a French Bistrot is pale yellow to brown (otherwise known as Bistre) because the walls used to get dirty quickly from nicotine. Bistrot Du Coin is also known for its parties, three times a year to celebrate famous French events such as Bastille day on July 14th, The Beaujolais Nouveau on the third thursday of November or The New Year's Eve.

Overall
great beers and awesome french fusion

Bring your appetite and your patience, but only for a brief wait at the beginning before you're seated. Once you've got a table, the servers are fast as lightening. But pace yourself, because Bistrot du Coin has an amazing menu with a complete selection of French-inspired foods from mussels, to fish, to steak and frites!, to pastas, salads, and more more more. No matter what you eat, how full you get, and how sluggish you feel after eating at Bistrot du Coin, you must order dessert. They have perfectly crackable Creme Brulee that cannot be missed. For the gourmet style food served at this place, it is priced very moderately. Nice beer selection, too!

Like being in Paris...

Bistrot du Coin is an excellent reconstruction of a Paris bistro. In the Spring and Summer, they fling the front of the place open to the sidewalk. The place is always noisy and typically packed, though you won't have to wait too long for a table (except maybe on Saturday nights). Wonderful cheese dishes, great salads, and superb mussels in a variety of presentations, with a very respectable wine selection. Even the waiters can often seem rude, but it's only an act to make you feel like you're on the Left Bank. Highly recommended.

Am I Spoiled?

Though this place was recommeded in Frommer's and Fodor's, my experience here was just so-so. Even though I enjoyed the food, it did not provide the 'splash' that I would expect from this oft reviewed restaurant. The place was bustling, and the diners seemed to enjoy themselves. However, the waitstaff all had dour expressions on their faces and gave me the impression that they did not want to be there. The mussels were good, and the duck confit was better. My girlfriend had a better time than me, so maybe my expectations were just higher. Main drawback, especially for me coming from California, was that the restaurant allowed smoking at the tables. Lastly, the poached pear ice cream dessert was great.

Overall
french food without pretentiousness

The ambience is cosy and the food is spectacular. Not to mention they have great bar and dessert selections. For the calibre of the food, it's surprising that you don't have to dress fancy. The un-snootiness and comfortable atmosphere of this French restaurant makes it a great place to bring dates or just hang out with your friends over dinner.
