Micro of Somerset, NJ is a full-service contract manufacturer of precision medical devices, injection / insert molding, MIM/CIM and fabricated tube assemblies. State-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, clean room assemblies, and a passionate drive for excellence are just a few of the qualities that make up the world headquarters of Micro. When Micro needed to increase the supply chain capabilities of their facility within tight construction deadlines, they contracted with Fenton. Fenton Construction delivered a 16,000-sf corporate interior fit-out for Micro Stamping. This area would be furnished as an executive suite. This project was given a construction schedule of one month. Fenton was able to fast-track this project and complete the renovation and office fit-out on time and within budget. Scope of work: demolition, doors & hardware, electric, metal stud framing & drywall, acoustical ceiling, HVAC, fire-sprinkler, millwork, flooring, and painting.

Solution: Cambridge Paverâ€™s engineer, RT Consulting and Engineering had previous experience with Butler Buildings and Fenton Construction from a past project. Fentonâ€™s project team worked closely with the project engineer to work out the many unique requirements and details of the different building units that would house all the manufacturing equipment. Some of these details included: framing and flashing around three 80â€™ tall silos that extended 30â€™ above our 50â€™ tall building; installing the pre-cast concrete firewall between the Production and Kiln buildings. Also because of the size of some the equipment, this equipment had to be installed first and the Butler Building was constructed around the equipment. Extensive coordination with equipment suppliers needed to take place in order for successful project delivery.

Fenton was directly involved in the design of the sports facility structure and worked closely with Butler Manufacturingâ„¢ to configure the buildingâ€™s steel shell according to plan. In addition to engineering and supplying the steel structure, Butler supplied its renowned MR-24 Standing Seam Roof system, which is recognized worldwide for its superior quality and maintenance-free performance. The modern, spacious field house provides locker rooms for both Pingry and visiting teams along with a strength and conditioning room. In addition to two (2) full basketball courts and four (4) basketball side courts, there are eight (8) squash courts and ample room for fencing and wrestling events. The structure also serves as an indoor practice facility for lacrosse, softball and baseball. The exterior lobby walls are constructed of Nichiha Illuminations Panel, a cementitious modular panel from Japan, which is used in combination with aluminum and glass elements to create a unique entry space. Adorning the entry are entire walls of life-size sports murals depicting past Pingry sports achievements. Michael Mulcahy concludes, â€œAt Fenton, our philosophy and mission is to construct buildings to a higher standard â€“ the goals and dreams of our clients. We envision Pingryâ€™s new field house serving future generations of coaches and student athletes as they write the schoolâ€™s next chapter of athletic achievement.â€
