Move On....To Another Company
A few months ago, we interviewed several moving companies and ultimately chose Absolute Moving. Rick, one of the owners, gave a very nice impression and I was confident in our choice. The day of moving went smoothly enough, despite the rain. Rick's crew was extremely nice, respectful and went the extra step throughout the entire day from wiping their feet each time they entered to being flexible with our moving needs. We actually adored the entire crew and was ready to sing the company's praises. We were given a discounted price/quote but we were so happy after our experience that we actually paid them the full price as a thank you for the wonderful move.
A few days after moving in, we went to set up our computer and found the monitor was broken. It was one of the few items we asked the movers to pack for us. We knew the movers were very gentle--I'm sure there was just not enough padding or something happened in the truck. We were not angry as we know these things happen--we just asked that the monitor be replaced. The monitor was not a high end expensive one but we still needed it replaced. This is when the nightmare began and it continued for 8 weeks.
Rick dragged his feet for 2 months trying to find us a replacement on a local online community yardsale website. Although our monitor was 3 years old, we still did not think it was a professional thing to do. We actually found his postings on the site saying, "I'm not looking to spend much, but if you have something for under $25, please contact me". He repeatedly told us "our monitor had no value to anyone but us". We grew increasingly annoyed as time went on. He brought us a "temporary monitor" that was quite sub par--the picture was barely viewable and extremely dark. In the end, *we* ended up buying a new monitor and requesting compensation via check. That finally ended the ordeal although he still won't answer any of our attempts to have him come pick up this large sub par temporary replacement monitor we're stuck with.
I would have recommended this company until I was blue in the face because the movers were so wonderful--I would have even recommended them despite the monitor breaking because again, these things can happen during a move. But the way the issue was dealt with by the owner Rick soured us completely and we would never and will never recommend them to anyone.
