Abbey Animal Hospital

We boarded our dogs with abbey animal hospital for a week. When I called in advance to make the reservation, I was given a quote of $8 per day to administer medication to my diabetic dog, and I was told my dogs would be able to board together. First disappointment happened at check in when I was told that "boarded together" meant next to each other in separate kennels, not in fact in the same kennel together

Halfway through the stay I got a call saying that the $8/day for medication quote I was given ahead of time and was charged for at check in was wrong, and it was supposed to be $3.75/medicine/application, and that I would be charged and additional $160 before I could take my dogs home! (Diabetic dog on 8 medicines 2x daily, 4 of which were eye drops)

The lack of communication between their own staff on pricing and with me was bad enough, but being expected to pay over $200 at check in when I had already prepaid nearly $500 for a week long stay was absolutely unacceptable.

Stacie the groomer is amazing! My dog always comes out looking amazing and is eager to go back. I love this place!

Boarded my dog here and I got pictures while she was being boarded, that let me know she was in good hands!

Love this place! Very knowledgable and understanding. My fiancé brings her 2 dogs here so of course when I got my black lab, Apollo, they were first to see my boy. They take such great care of him. Thank you Abbey. Ya'll rock

Every time I walk into Abbey with my pets, I always feel at home. They know my dog Riley by name, and always treat him like he belongs to them. Dr Knopp has taken such great care of him, and got his arthritis managed so well, it's like he is a puppy again. Love this place!

Love this very! I've been bringing my pets there for over 10 years and I wouldn't take them anywhere else! Dr Knopp saved my dog's life when he swallowed a plastic toy and it got stuck. Best most caring veterinarian out there!

My experience here was horrible, from beginning to end. I brought my dog in because he had thrown up a few times within a few days. They wanted to run every test under the sun and gave me an estimate of about $500. When I told them I wasn't sure that I wanted to spend that right now, the vet made me feel like crap and told me if the money wasn't in my budget, I shouldn't have a dog. At that point, I wanted to switch vets. A few weeks later, I wanted to order my dog some heartworm medication from an online pharmacy. Unfortunately, this vet is where I had the heartworm test done so I needed them to give the online company the prescription. They told me they won't work with online pharmacies. So, I had to go pick up a written prescription that I would be charged $10 for so I could mail it to the online pharmacy. Well, when I went to try to get a written prescription, I was told they wouldn't give it to me because I had given them a negative review on Facebook. Way to show my dog's well being is of no importance. Also, they obviously try to retaliate against negative reviews so I would take any lack of negative reviews with a grain of salt.

Horrible experiences, and the boarding was a joke. Terrible prices, and after we had my dog put to sleep there, I was still receiving calls about getting my dog's shots updated. They also messed up my dogs license messed up. My dogs license number was assigned to another patient. Don't recommend!

About a month ago, my very energetic four year old dog stopped eating and became extremely ill. He could not stop vomiting and barely had the strength to get down our stairs. I brought him to Abbey Animal Hospital, terrified that I was going to lose him. Dr. Chris and staff discovered that he had a foreign body and performed surgery immediately. In a week he was back to his old self and you would never guess that he was even sick! I am forever indebted to Abbey and Dr. Chris for saving my best friend's life and giving me my running buddy back :)

I took my cat here and right off the bat I got a read out of what I wanted plus added expenses they suggested, which I thought was pushy. then I asked the Vet, Dr. Kris Knopp about fixing my cats ear, a very simple procedure and he said he didn't want to do it but he'd draw up a list of costs which came out to over $700...then I was shuffled out the exam door and made to wait another 30 minutes to get my bill which was astronomical. I'm now taking my cat to my Moms vet in the country because Virginia Beach Veterinary Clinics are all in it for the money, period.
