We live in a culture where so much of our priorities and values systems are geared around money... But it is refreshingly obvious when you walk in this business and interact with any of the employees that the relationship comes first and each individual is committed to your happiness and that the financial gain is just the byproduct of the service and rates below and 2nd to the trust gained and earned with the commitment to the relationship coming1st which is priceless in this day and age... There used to be a saying why complain it doesn't get me anywhere but as I mentioned before our culture has change and enables the people that are the problem so I decided to change because a satisfied customers actions speak louder than words.... So let's add some words to the actions because anyone can complain but very few people want to tell the truth because of their own fears and insecurities... The cup is half full and a lot of these reviews come from people that are half-empty I know a lot of the people to this business personally I've had my haircut by Nancy Nikki Kanoa Luanne and they are all efficient and have different personalities the only differences same result with their own special touch I've had my eyebrows waxed tonica Amy is awesome too I am been welcomed graciously by Ashley the receptionist and have always been treated with respect by the owner John... To this group it is not just a job this is a calling for them and if they weren't getting paid to do this it would be their hobby and very obvious if you spent a little or a lot of time with these people... And if you take time to get to know them like I know them u will realize that they are humanbut most important get to know their heart and their character which is seem superhuman compared to customer service today which really sucks... So become part of the family put the relationship first because the money comes second get to know these people I endorse them and they will bring the best out of you inside and out...lol pun intended:-)
Normally I go to Dupre's, however, they were all booked on the Saturday I had free to have my hair re-colored and cut so I called "Hair We Are". Upon my arrival I was greeted with friendly faces and was asked if I'd like anything to drink. Check in was simple. My stylist (Lilian) was extremely outgoing and a pleasure to have. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome of my hair and the relaxed, but family friendly atmosphere. Customers were coming in with their children of all ages, customers of all backgrounds even. I was very pleased seeing as normally I felt I had to be "dressed to impress" each time I went to Dupres. It felt like a down home, good, relaxing, come as you are, place. My appointment was at 2, but I did not get finished until about 530. (My hair was a wreak) My stylist said she got off at 5 and was going out of town that evening, however, did not give me that "let's hurry up and get this over with" feel at all. She made me feel like I came first, which I appreciate! (being in the customer service field myself, I know how important it is to make the customer feel that way and she A'ced it!) The turn out of my hair was hands down the BEST I've ever seen it! AND it was about $150 cheaper than I paid at the previous salon I went to!!!! Granted, at the old salon, I felt they pressured me into purchasing something each and everytime I went in, which I caved into doing. That could have led to a larger bill a bit.... All in all, I will stick with Lilian at Hair We Are and recommend her and this salon to everyone I know! YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS PLACE!
I have been living in Va Beach for about 4 years. About a month ago I was on my way to Radio Shack ( in the Haygood Shopping Center) when I saw The Image hair salon. I really needed my hair to be colored but I was afraid due to my last experience at a different salon. When I walked into The Image I was greeted by a very nice and professional lady( I found out later that she was the manager). I told her about my past experience getting my hair colored at a different salon. She listened to everything I said with concern. She took time to explain to me the history of this salon and the experience of all of the stylist, which I thought was amazing that this small business had been in business for over 20 years and that all of the stylist had been working in this salon for 10 years plus, with two of the stylist being there for over 20 years. That was amazing to me . Not too many small businesses have been known to make it this long and especially having 13 loyal stylists for over 10 years. Wow, they are doing something right and I really wanted to be apart of this. She asked one of the stylist to speak to me about my hair. wow, unbelievable, this stylist (Stella) was amazing. She made me feel very comfortable and told me not to worry she will make sure my hair will turn out the way I wanted and it would not get damaged. She was very patient with me. The entire time I was in her chair I felt like a queen. Thank you, I love my hair .
I first met Jim at The Image when my hair was orange; compliments of the owner of another Va Beach salon. This woman had been doing my hair for 2 years and this was the second time in a row that she messed up. I wore a ball cap to work for 2 days, and was not sure where to turn for help. One of my co-workers (whose hair always looks fantastic) called Jim, her stylist and described my situation. He got me in the next day after work. The only immediate solution to my problem was to strip all the color from my hair. Jim's main concern was in keeping my hair from falling out and getting it back to a healthy condition. I spent several weeks as a platinum blonde, and even though this would have never been my choice of hair color, I got many compliments and it was a fun color for summer! Jim gave me great at-home hair care advice to help my hair heal. The condition of my hair improved so quickly, that Jim was soon able to add more color. I now love both my color and cut! After seeing how Jim transformed my once orange and dried out hair, my daughter and mother have both become his clients, and they are also very happy with his tallent. Lately, people have been asking me who does my hair, and I am very happy to tell them: Jim @ The Image!
As a woman pushing 60, let me tell you that I've had my hair styled more than a few times in my life, and I wasn't always happy with the results. When I discovered Jessica, nearly 10 years ago, I knew my search for a Stylist, was over! Jessica is always busy, but she is well worth the wait! Once in her chair I know that "I" have her undivided attention, and that her attention is first and foremost on making "my hair" make "me" feel "beautiful." Her talent with Color is unsurpassed, and her hair cuts are always top notch! No matter how I may have been feeling when I arrived, when I leave I feel as if I am 10 years younger and 10 pounds thinner! Her abilities as a stylist seem almost… instinctive! People are always commenting on my color, and asking me who my "Hair dresser" is… I tell them I don't have a "Hair dresser, but I do have a Hair Stylist, and she's a magician!" Jessica, even after all these years your talent amazes me… I want you to know I absolutely Love my hair, and I owe it all to you! Thank-you for always making me feel, "beautiful!"
Since you can only write one review, I'm editing my original one to add some info! I've been going to The Image for about four years, and Chrisy has always been my stylist. I was referred to her because of her expertise as a great color technician. She's not only that, she's warm, patient, and takes her time to make sure you're happy when you leave. She's the first stylist who, when I asked for "just the ends" taken off the length, she actually listened. I highly recommend her, and was very lucky when I moved here to have found her. I recently wanted to change up my color and highlights, and she came up with some great ideas. I love it, and have gotten so many compliments. Kudos also go to the rest of the staff, especially the girls at the reception desk, who are always friendly and make you feel welcome. I also love Sava, who gives the best shampoo and neck massage. She's a wonderful lady, and really takes pride in her work. The Image makes you feel like family, and Chrisy will have you leaving with a smile. They have certainly earned all these great reviews.
...then you definitely want to make an appointment to see Vini. Ethnic hair requires a special level of skill. Vini is a certified master stylist, and her level of client care certainly supports her qualifications. I have trusted her for the last almost decade to help me bring my hair to a manageable state, then to help me protect it as it grows, and to assist me in maintaining its length. She consistently trains to stay on top of the latest trends and looks, and was even a Matrix-selected trainer herself. I look forward to the day when I finally feel brave enough to try out color, because Vini is also a color EXPERT. (It was spectacular when many of the stylists and assistants dyed their hair pink to recognize B reast Cancer Awareness month.)The idea of leaving the area fills me with a sense of dread because I have never been so happy with not just a stylist, but a trusted partner in hair care, as I have with Vini. Whether or not you have ethnic hair, you can NOT go wrong by selecting her to give you the sharpest looks with the healthiest hair.
STELLA is amazing! I, like most women do off and on, had been in a real funk and needed to feel good, no GREAT, about ME. I had gotten my hair done a few days ago in the hopes of feeling younger and more alive at a different salon and was so very disappointed and depressed by the results so I went to see Stella and she, as always, worked her magic. It's amazing how a haircut and color can change your perspective and make you come alive again. I'm a teacher, and teachers AND students all over the building have come to my room to check out my new do because the word spread quickly (we've only been in school for 20 minutes this morning). I have been told how much younger and beautiful I look. Some said that they don't recognize me because I look like a teenager!! I've gotten so many wonderful compliments, but most importantly, I LOVE it and STELLA accomplished for me exactly what I needed and wanted. Go see STELLA, and you will not be disappointed!
I have been seeing Stella for over 8 years now - I started with long hair & now it's short. When you enter the salon, you are greeted instantly & offered a cold or hot beverage to begin your personal time of relaxation. Next, one of the shampoo gals (Jamie or Renee) will wash you up for Stella - but here's the best part...........the neck & head massage that goes along with the shampoo is worth the trip!! Then, you are given over to the hands of Stella. She's awesome with the scissors & she works her magic on you, making you feel like a new person. Stella is the real deal & most of all, she really listens to what you want in your hairstyle and even, in life. She'll talk about your desires & even encourage you to take that leap of faith (with a new hairstyle). Give Stella a call, you'll be glad you did!
Back in 2007 Jim saw me and told a friend that he could help me with my hair. I went to Jim and was already doing the Biotin, but the best advise he gave me was to not only wash my hair but the also shower in a cool shower instead of a hot one. I now have a full head of hair and it grows so fast that I can't believe it's down the middle of my back. The people at the Image are absolutely wonderful! I would recommend Jim any day, night, or whenever to do someone's hair. I even had Jim do my hair for my wedding, which turned out beautifully. I received several compliments on my hair, not only at the wedding, but every day now. I can't say enough about Jim or the crew at the Image. I will go no where else for my hair to be done and my spouse also has Jim do his hair. Thanks again to the Image at Haygood and especially to Jim!
