Perfect. Right right inside the Venice Inlet. Directly across from the North Jetty Fish Camp on the South end of Casey Key FL. Swimming distance from Snake Island the local swimming spot for boaters and kayakers. The facility including docks are in great shape with a pump out and gas dock right there. Walk about 100 feet for lunch or dinner in the Crows Nest restaurant. Anther option is to walk out to the west end of the jetty wall and watch the people, boats surfers, and water or hit the Venice beach right there at the jetty. It couldn’t be better or more scenic. I put in my kayak, “Jeannie H” an 18 foot white Kevlar sea touring kayak, in at the North Jetty and paddle all around this incredibly beautiful area. The Intra Coastal Waterway, ICW, is right here heading either North to Sarasota, FL. or South to Boca Grande, FL.
Having brought my car to Cramer Toyota on 41 Bypass for repair, I decided to walk around while I waited. With low hopes of discovering anything to do and having a grumbling tummy, I hoofed it to Wee Blew Inn. Mike greeted me at the door with a smile and I was seated by the spunky young waitress. I ordered the fish basket, which included perfectly, lightly breaded catfish filets on a sandwich made to order (tasty tarter sauce), thick french fries and the best cole slaw ever: not too sweet, not too spicey and no onions, just the way I like it. Not only will I be returning to Wee Blew Inn for the service, the food was delicious. I wouldn't change a thing about this cute little restaurant and will be bringing family & friends every time we visit Venice.
The Lucky dog is our favorite place to stop when were in Venice. The food is great and the atmosphere is the best. My favorite meal is the Double Trouble (a double burger that's the bomb!) and a home made chocolate shake. The interior is a mix of modern and retro style, with old pictures of Venice from the 50's when the diner first opened, and pictures of friends and family of the diner. We also like their gear. The logo is fun and makes a perfect "I vacationed in Venice" gift. They have a website where you can check them out www.theLuckyDogDiner.com We friended them on Facebook and found out that several of our other friends had done the same. The Lucky Dog is the Venice community hub!
