Overall

It’s taken me awhile to write this. In July of this year I boarded my two dogs at Indian Hammer. Although they are not our primary veterinarian; we have boarded our dogs there in the past. We trusted them with the care of our dogs who we consider family. One of my dogs, Duke,is elderly and he requires insulin for diabetes. My other dog, Bella, was young and healthy. My wife and I left for vacation out of the country, one we saved years to go on, only to be called and informed that someone had accidentally injected Bella with Dukes insulin several times over a period of 2 days resulting in her death. My wife and I were, and still are, devastated. When we returned, we picked up Duke. He was covered in his own urine. I was told he urinated on himself several times while he was kenneled. Dogs with diabetes drink large amounts of water if they are not given insulin. Not only did someone there kill my dog, Bella, but once they identified they screwed up; they did not even have the decency to wash the urine off my dog Duke. He was there for 10 days! The bedding we dropped them off with still had the scent of urine on it. At least they attempted to wash that. What is most troubling about this whole experience is that Duke’s medical records clearly state what kind of dog he is, how much he weighs, and that he required insulin. Bella was a vastly different dog than Duke not to mention the opposite sex and no medical conditions. Duke and Bella even wore collars with their names on them. Clearly, Indian Hammer has someone in its employ who is not educated enough to identify male from female, differences in dog breeds, or can even take the time to read a name etched on a collar. Considering the totality of the circumstances here, I have trouble believing this was an isolated incident. This was a series of mistakes, neglect, and total disregard for the safety of my dogs which resulted in the loss of one of my best friends and a dear family member. All that is left of my Bella are her ashes in a wood box. Indian Hammer was kind enough to offer that service free of charge. If I could burn the place to the ground I would. Instead, I have little recourse but to leave a bad review. I’d leave no stars but apparently that’s not an option. Taking your pets here is a roll of the dice. Even if you don’t heed this warning and never have a bad experience, that you know of, remember you are not there to see what is going on in your absence.

They are knowledgable friendly and truly easy on a budget was given a estimate of 300.00 to 500.00 for a hernia surgery for my dog then she due to age had to have blood work done to make sure she could survive the surgery and she got 2 shots 18-25 so I figured that would be another 100.00 but when I got the bill it was 235.00 well below estimate dog did really good after surgery couldn't keep her still didn't even act like she had surgery
