It offers a great location, good parking (there's a lot in back with limited parking space) and great food. It's a great place to go if you're looking for a non chain, nicely priced Italian restaurant.

It has an extensive menu with generous portions that is comparably priced. It's also great as a quick stop to pick up items from the deli, I love their turkey salad, chicken salad with crackers. It's a great pick me up. They have fabulous sandwiches, salads and soups and they deliver.
  • El Texate 316 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405 (310) 399-1115

A lot of the things El Texate does best involve chicken. The most distinctive of the moles is chicken in mole negro, a jet-black sauce of pasilla peppers and chocolate--the only mole negro I've had in a restaurant that didn't strike me as excessively sweet. All the fruit drinks are great, tropical fruit margaritas too.

Don't expect authentic Chinese food or cutting edge fusion. It does offer food thrown together with some sort of Chinese-ish sauce. The lunch specials are pretty good for Santa Monica.

Friendly, carb heavy, fresh ingredients, real Italians, seaside location, yummy sauces, scrumptious salads, candlelit atmosphere, recent remodel changed decor from rundown to upscale. IT's good.

Consistent, good food and a reasonable price. Highly recommended for good pizza, subs and salads.

one of the better places to get a good pie on the westside. Also one of the only places I know to actually sit down and eat a pizza in a decent setting.
  • Caffe Luxxe 925 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403 (310) 394-2222

Definitely the best place to get an espresso in LA area.

Chic without being trendy, Caffe Luxxe provides its patrons with stellar espresso in an environment both relaxed and pristinely-kept.

I tell all new employees that are looking for a good lunch place to go there. The prices are good, the burgers are great, for the price in Santa Monica you can not beat this.

  • Big Dean's Ocean Front Cafe 1615 Ocean Front Walk, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (310) 393-2666

Big Dean's is a fun local joint, very small but with an outside patio, perfect for having a beer and watching the sunset or the activity on the pier. It's located right below Santa Monica pier near the Hot Dog on a Stick. They make their own chips and they are delcious. Cheap beers at happy hour.
