My son and several friends were signed up through an outside camp to participate in a rope course at the Santa Fe Mountain Center (SFMC). SFMC had done this ropes course for the outside camp 2 prior summers. Apparently there was some mis-communication this summer and the children were not allowed to participate in the ropes course. I called SFMC because I wanted to hear their side of the story. I spoke with Marge Kelley, SFMC Associate Director today and she was very defensive and rude. Apparently at least one parent had called her and yelled at her. However, I was not. MS. Kelley acknowledged that during our conversation. She explained the situation, which actually wasn't un-reasonable. What I object to was her defensiveness and rude comments. She was unprofessional and there was no need for it. In the end she practically hung up on me, saying, "I need to go," and then hanging up before I could even say, "Goodbye" or "Thank you." This woman is the associate director? SFMC generally serves at-risk youth, but I would not send my child to their program no matter how at-risk they are. I would not donate money to SFMC, either. I'm sorry that my tax dollars are funding such an ill-run, unprofessional program. At-risk children deserve better.

Dr. Montoya is an arrogant dentist. I have TMJ, and needed a new "tooth guard" to keep me from grinding my teeth at night. This is what Dr. Montoyas nurse told me I would get. When the new apparatus was ready, it was designed to push my lower jaw back. This was NEVER discussed with me, and NOT what I wanted. It caused neck, jaw and shoulder pain and headaches for weeks. When I told Dr. Montoya that I couldn't take the pain, and really don't want to move my jaw, he got angry. I asked him if could file down this apparatus, so that it would function as a tooth guard. He said that he would, but that after that he would be "done." He said, "I'm done" several times in an angry voice. I'll never go back to see him. I've had no pain with my new "tooth guard" since he filed it down. Why cause extra pain? Shouldn't you tell a patient about new treatments you are implementing? Since then, I have spoken with several people who have described Dr. Montoya as arrogant and to several families who have switched to other dentists. So, it is not only me that feels this way. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Montoya.

    Water park:

Pros: Clean, new, well trained life guards. The guards at the wave rider were especially friendly and helpful. Snack bar upstairs. Clean bathrooms with showers. There are a variety of activities for all ages from a hot tub that children aren’t allowed in (unless with a parent) to a “kiddie” pool with small slides and water squirting everywhere. There are 2 large slides, a lazy river and 3 basketball nets (though we only ever saw 2 balls.) The star activity is the Wave Rider where you can “boogie board” or “surf!”

Cons: Unequal enforcement of rules – My sister was told that she couldn’t drink bottled water downstairs (no food or drink allowed downstairs), but later we watched a family sit downstairs and eat sandwiches that they had brought with them (No outside food is allowed) and no body said anything. Also, they use a HUGE amount of chlorine. My older son developed a rash after 1.5 days in the water.

Pros: Clean, updated, modern rooms; quiet; friendly staff; fun “extra” activities such as making tin ornaments (for $5/person you can try this colonial Spanish craft) and an arcade.

Cons: Room wasn’t cleaned until after 5:30 one day (and I called to request that they clean it while we went to dinner).

Ineffectual/incompetent staff - I called a day before my reservation to check if I could come a day early. I found that they only had me down for 1-night (but my reservation printout clearly stated 2 nights.) The desk receptionist told me she would add the 2nd night and that evening – for a total of 3 nights – but when I arrived I was still on record as only reserving 1 night! Also, when I booked the reservation a month earlier, I called several times to make sure that the water park would be open on Memorial Day (Monday). Up until then, the water park had only been open weekends. One desk receptionist said, ”Yes.” Another said, “No.” I finally left a voice message for the manager who called me back to say, “Yes.” My sister had this same experience except the manager never responded to her message. The outdoor pool was not open and the indoor pool was cloudy. There was a dirty diaper by the hot tub.

This hotel was filthy! We were scheduled to stay for 8 nights, but checked out after 1 night. The hotel doesn't look bad from the street, but the dirty sidewalks in front of the rooms are the first sign of it's poor cleanliness. Our room's carpet was dark green and I could see stains on it! There were water stains on the ceiling and by the door. The wallpaper was pealing off around the door and under the sink. There were drip marks in various colors on the bathroom walls and door from previous guests. Everytime the room above us flushed their toilet, our room smelled like a sewer! It was hard to sleep in that smell. I kept my shoes by the bed for bathroom trips during the night. We checked out the next morning and went to stay a few blocks away. This hotel is NOT that close to Pasadena's Old Town (as they advertise) - there are other's closer. This is misleading. It is in a bad part of town with gangs, etc. I would give this hotel "0" stars if I could. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The name of this kennel is Country Boarding Kennel. We have used this kennel for our dog about once a year for 4 years and have found it to be excellent. The employees are friendly and professional. They really like animals. The dogs quarters are wonderful: radiant heat, individual indoor and outdoor heat, etc. For a little extra, your dog is exercised. You can have your dog groomed while (s)he is there, as well. I always bring a bag of treats for my dog, and they give her one every day. She always is happy and healthy when I pick her up. They board cats, as well. Each cat has its own quarters, but can be "let out" in the cat room for exercise and to relieve boredom. I highly recommend Country Boarding Kennels.

This is a very nice hotel for the room rates. Our room was clean and quiet. The employees were helpful and friendly. Our kids LOVED the coy pond!

This is the WORST hotel we have ever stayed in! The room was filthy. The carpet was dark green and we could see stains on it. There were water stains on the ceiling and walls. The wallpaper was peeling around the door and under the sink. There were stains and/or drips of various colors and textures on the bathroom walls and door. The worst thing was that every time the guest above us flushed the toilet (which we could hear), our room smelled like raw sewage - yuck! This made it VERY difficult to sleep. We had reservations for 8 nights, but checked out after only 1. This hotel misrepresents itself as being near Old Town Pasadena (OTP). The hotel is in the city of Eagle Rock which is not too far from OTP, but it's not close, either. There are many other hotels that are closer - and cleaner. This hotel is in a bad part of town - gangs, etc. It is on a busy, noisy street. The rates are low, but it is NOT worth it!

We're seeing Dr. Evaldson for our son's ADD. Dr. Evaldson is very knowledgable and professional. He's the only doctor in Santa Fe that has always been on time. I've NEVER had to wait past our appointment time. He is wonderful with my son, as well. I HIGHLY recommend him.
