As a foodie who loves eating out, York Street is hard for me to rate. The service is great, the food is great and the atmosphere is great, but relative to the the expense it is hard to judge. It is a very expensive restaurant and they only serve around 10 tables in a cute and cozy house. I try to judge my restaurants on some sort of scale to value because I don't want to end up giving good reviews to all nice expensive restaurants and bad reviews to less expensive restaurants because of course for the expense they can afford better food, service, etc. York Street is a tough one for me. It is a great restaurant and they do basically everything well. Their menu is creative and their food is very good. Their service is very attentive, etc. etc.

I think I take it down to a very good 4 stars, because I do feel it is just a little overpriced for even as well as they do do everything. And I also feel that there is at times there is a little ego that bleeds through in their service that comes from patrons consistently telling them how great they are and how cute and cozy and wonderful their restaurant is.

If you are looking for a small town B&B to go to in Grapevine for one of their festivals or to just window shop on the historic Main Street area, then the the Gaylord might not be what you are looking for. Although it is just a very short trip over to the Main Street area and I would still recommend that, the Gaylord is basically a city unto itself. The glass ceiling is so high in the main area and the vegetation so complete that you do almost feel like you are outside. They have nice rooms, a large conference facility, and some good restaurants (at which you definitely pay for the quality). The whole building complex is very very impressive. Additionally, there is the Glass Cactus which is their bar/restaurant/club on the lake which is pretty neat. I definitely recommend staying at the Gaylord.

Even though it is huge, if you get claustrophobic by the Truman Show-ness of the whole complex, you can make it easily over to Grapevine Mills mall, or Bass Pro Shops, or the Cowboys golf course (very nice but pretty expensive), or the city of Grapevine golf course, or the Main Street area. It is my understanding that the Gaylord doesn't run the same shuttles that they used to to the surrounding areas but that in the early Fall, I think I heard September the city of Grapevine is picking up the slack with a more complete system.

  • Kirin Court Restaurant 221 W Polk St, Richardson, TX 75081 (214) 575-8888

Kirin Court is probably the most popular Dim Sum restaurant in the Dallas area. Their dim sum is very good, but their service can be somewhat spotty at times. Even with their service issues, they are still the best on the East Side of town off 75. Overall, I prefer Hong Kong Royal in Carrollton for Dim Sum, but go to both depending on which side of town I am on. Kirin Court's service issues usually stem from handling busy crowds. I would recommend going to Kirin Court at a little bit of off times or maybe with a little bit of patience, they are good people with great food and your patience will be rewarded. That last part sounds a little like a Chinese proverb which I guess is appropriate.

I still like Mi Cocina but I do feel like they have lost a little something over the years, maybe rested on their laurels a tiny bit. I am definitely still a fan but don't go there quite as often. I really like Manny's in Uptown, Ojeda's off Maple, and the new Carolina's Mexican Cuisine in Far North Dallas, but Mi Cocina is definitely still in the rotation.

Different than most Dallas BBQ, just slightly different setup but still good. I would recommend it if you are in the area.

Had a great experience with this nail salon. With the economy in the tank, it is nice to be able to save some money on your nails while still getting a high quality professional job. After getting my nails done there, I grabbed their card so that I would remember to review them. Now I can't remember exactly what it cost, it was either $10 or $12. I actually gave them $15 because they did such a good and thorough job. If I had any complaint, they were almost too meticulous which was fine because I like being pampered sometimes and wasn't in a hurry. Definitely recommend Blooming Nails and you get a better manicure there then you would somewhere on Preston or in some spa and it costs you less.

Awesome spicy battered chicken strips! Ridiculously good cheese fries!

    Only two draw backs:

1- It just can't be that healthy to eat their cheese fries, nothing that good is good for you

2- Town Center can be a zoo and the wait there can be a pain.

But every once in while you have to throw health to the wind, relax for the wait and get their cheese fries loaded with jalapenos, bacon and chives, mmmm.
