Carson and Son Roofing and General Contracting
1110 Saint Vincent St, Philadelphia, PA 19111
I was completely let down and would not recommend this company. I hired Carson & Sons based on initial discussions with John and after reading the reviews on yp.com. I am writing this detailed review in the hope that it will protect you from making an uninformed decision about hiring this company.
John was very responsive in the beginning when he wanted our business and then it all went downhill in the area of customer service once the job began. We had our roof on our 2-car garage replaced and it seemed to be a straight foward contract. We were told it would be a one day job and that turned into a 5 day job, in which at the end was still not completed per the terms of the contract. That said, the roofing looks fine and it seems to have been applied correctly. Our issue lies with the following items:
1.) Job started on Thursday, continued Friday and then they just left without calling or advising when they would be back to finish. The crew, not John, showed up on Monday morning stating that they tried to call me which was a lie. I called the office on Friday and then again on Saturday and never recieved a return call.
2.) I picked up over 200 roofing nails and other debris (felt, plastic release liner, shingles) from the backyard area around my garage. I understood that I may have had to pick up some debris but this is very unprofessional and after calling several times about this it was NEVER cleaned up.
3.) They used my garbage cans, brooms and shovels. A professional crew would use their own tools and not the customer's tools.
4.) They stepped through the interior ceiling of our garage in two separate locations. Although not happy, I do understand that things happen. My issue is that they attempted to repair the stucco ceiling with gypsum and tape joint compound (similiar materials that are used on the interior or home). The fix looks horrible and it would have been better if they just left the hole in the ceiling. To top it all off they used a trash can from my garage to mix up the joint compound and then took the can with them!
The only thing that was consistent was every time I would call them to discuss the job I was reminded of how much we still owed them and also to make sure and leave feedback.
