I had this company install a sump pump in my home. The estimator I spoke with asked me specific questions about the install, such as length of copper piping (syphon jet) discharge pipe lengths and so on. Based on my responses he gave me a cost which I found to be reasonible. A week or so after the installation was completed the discharge line froze. I had Summit come out again. In less than 90 minutes, I received a bill via e-mail for $120 bucks, with a comment that the technician thawed out pipe and spoke with owner.
Of course I called to find out who the technician spoke with because no one was home and then wodered why the bill was $40 more than their hourly rate. At this point I also thought it would be a good idea to get warranty information on the sump pump as well as an invoice for the original installation. As it turned out the lengths of piping I gave the estimator were overestimated by 10 feet. The estimator who was so helpful and courteous became evasive. He gave me one excuse after another as to why a credit was not coming my way. So I told him to send me 10 feet of 1/2" copper pipe and several fittings, I even said I would eat the cost of the labor and we will call it even. At this point he told me the quote he gave me was suddenly a packaged deal. That made zero sense, but I'm just a dumb customer so I should accept hios answer.
Then when I asked about the $120 bill the explanation I received was "no matter how fast or slow a technician is that's how we bill". I'm still not sure what that means.
Just another contractor out to nickel and dime their customers.
