    Some Good Doctors, Some Bad

I came to this practice to have my first child. I experienced all of the doctors. Some of them are really great, others not so great. Dr. Lakner: Wonderful, intelligent, doesn't give you very much time, but good bedside mannerDr. Gerber: Very kind, gentle, and nice. Dr. Laurin: Also gentle, kind, friendlyDr. Friedman: Terrible. Hurt me very bad when roughly giving pelvic exam Dr. Grossman: Cold bedside manner, but seems intelligent. Dr. Lee: Seems intelligent, but not very friendly

    Dr. Chablani is very good!

He's a caring doctor, honest and straightforward. He does have a very busy practice, however. His best aspect is that he accepts children who are not vaccinated, which is becoming hard to find these days. He lets the parents make the medical decisions when appropriate. His Germantown office is not as nice as his Rockville office, though. I'd suggest you go to the Rockville office if it convenient for you.

The BEST prices on contacts and glasses!

I came here since they are simply unbeatable on the price. The quality is good, too! You can get TWO pairs of glasses, including your exam, for only $70! The quality of the customer service has gone down in recent years, though they are making a concerted effort to bring it back. The only down side is you have to wait about a week for your glasses to be ready--they are sent out to a lab in Pennsylvania. However, I think the bargain is worth the wait!

    WONDERFUL Vegetarian Indian Cuisine!

Come for the buffet on Saturday lunches! You can try dozens of different wonderful Indian Vegetarian dishes! You can stuff yourself on beautiful curries and vindaloos and have warm, fresh nan out of the oven! We always order a mango lassi, too. It's like a yogurt drink with mango. It's very cool and refreshing and cooling after all the spicy Indian food!

    Great Jamaican Food!

I love to come here and have the cocoa bread and the meat patties and chicken patties. The vegetarian one is just so-so. The cocoa bread comes warm out of the oven, and it's out of this world! Their rotis are okay, and the curried goat is decent. But if I were you, I'd eat the meat pie the Jamaican way: Cut your cocoa bread in half, put the beef patty in the middle, and dip it in the VERY hot habanero sauce. Yum! Have a "Ting" which is Jamaican soda which taste like fresca--it's grapefruit flavor!

    A Great Doctor!

Dr. John Choi is a very caring, warm, and friendly pediatrician. He is kind, gentle, and really takes his time with parents. We did have to leave him since I don't believe in vaccinations and he does, and won't accept non-vaccinating patients. However, he's really great if you do want to go ahead with vaxes.

Great Place to Find Great Books--and Dates!

This is a wonderful local bookstore, with a great selection of all kinds of wonderful books--both local and bestsellers! The aisles and rows are a great place to go on the prowl for another single young Washingtonian--that's why it's usually packed on Saturday nights!A fun place to meet, hang out all day, or simply go to one of their great author events!

    A Great Family-Owned Florist!

I came to this company a year ago to buy houseplants--they have such beautiful houseplants for sale! The large floor plants are usually spiffed up with leaf shine and are really gorgeous!I bought a ficus tree with a braided trunk, some chinese evegreens, a spathphylum, and an umbrella plant.I usually kill plants, but they have lasted for a very long time! I bought several plants at once so they gave me a deal. They are really quite nice and have good quality plants here!

    Very Expensive but Good

A lot of people recommend Joey Baird. He's been in Arlington forever, it seems. He owns and manages this auto repair center, with several people working for him. He's pretty good. I just got frustrated with how expensive he is. Apparently, the more honest mechanics do charge the FULL amount they can possibly charge you--but at least they do a thorough job. You get what you pay for, I suppose, when it comes to mechanics!
