Wow this place is great! I work a block away and can't believe I missed this place. They have $4 happy hour for martini's and wine... How can you go wrong with that!!! Great music, cool artwork on the wall. Wishi I knew about them sooner! I will be stumbling her more often!!!

Il Fornaio is an excellent restaurant with fabulous flavors, great service and a very inviting ambiance. The food is authentic Italian- D E L I C I O U S. They also offer reasonable size portions, not supersized heart attack specials with a 12 gallon drum of soda allowing you to feed your entire family and bring home ""a doggie bag"" to feed a small country for under 20 bucks. The food is meant to be savored to allow you to enjoy several courses. While the food is not cheap, it is priced to keep an adult type clientele. The servers are very knowledgeable of their wines and make excellent recommendations. This is one of our favorite spots downtown and will continue enjoying for the years to come.

I love, love, love the Slanted Door and the Out the Door at the Embarcadero. I was so excited to have a new one near work for my dining pleasure. The food at their new one is excellent like the other places, but I they have to iron out MANY details. The waitstaff taking orders are definately are hipsters with their funky hairdos, ultra cool glasses and cold attitudes. They do need a good lesson in being more professional and FYI a friendly attitude goes a L O N G way! I've been here twice for to go ordering . The first time they got my order wrong and offered me a complimentary drink, which was nice. The second time I noticed 3 people coming back because they got the wrong order. Mistakes are always bound to happen and I know it's a new restaurant. I'm hoping they will do some growing over the months and iron out these kinks, so their service can be as good as their food. If they are able to accomplish that I see perfection and great success in their future.

Based on the recommendations we decided to try this place. We were hugely disappointed. The food was very greasy, but don't get me wrong I enjoy to splurge every once in a while, but if I do it should at the very least taste good. I ordered the ribs and my husband had the steak. The ribs were NOT good at all flavorless and skimpy on the meat, but don't get me wrong, I did have a pile of bones to ""enjoy"", but not much meat and it was pretty tough. The steak my husband ordered was rubber. The bill was almost $35 for bad food BUT there's more you ""get"" to take your own food to the table. One positive was my dog had a field day with the ribs, so I guess you could say EXCELLENT dog food. There are so many other places you can go for reasonably priced food. SKIP THIS ONE!

I'd walked by this spot a million times, but couldn't get over the name. Are we talking a passion with science fiction, a trekkie... what the hell is in the name??? I still don't know, but c?est la vie. I should?ve gotten over the name a L O N G time ago, what a GREAT spot! The decor is very minimalist and warm. There are a little flowers quaintly set on each table. The bar is beautiful to look at and the drinks are great and inventive. They do not carry any of the name brand alcohols, but offer the less known which are equal if not better choices. The bartenders are friendly and can make anything and everything you want and give you better recommendations. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. We got excellent suggestions... but of course what about the food???? I was surprised at how many people hated this place. In all honesty when I saw the prices I had little expectations, but they did great! This is not a frilly over the top restaurant so don?t expect the world at such decent prices! Delicious flat breads with red grapes and pancetta, fried green beans (give you a little guilt, but you get over it quickly with the first bite), the mole tacos (YUM!!!) and they have pancetta wrapped figs with a cheesy center and lamb chops to die for. This is a hidden gem in SOMA. I loved my dinner so much we ended up having my company Holiday Party here. The guys were so accommodating. Anything I asked for was no problem and at no extra price. There were no surprising fees and we were under budget- which is a FIRST. This is going to be one of my regular spots. DEFINATELY give them a try.

A group of 6 of us wanted a lite dinner and wine on a Saturday night. We were thrilled to be able to be seated immediately without a reservation. The menu does not have may choices, but almost all of the dishes were excellent. The one thing I will say is the service was terrible. Our server was not happy we were not ordering a full meal and ignored us for the majority of the night. We had to beg for service. He brought us our 2nd bottle of wine and didn't even pour it! After the 3rd bottle of wine he was more attentive. The decor is very nice, the food is great and even though the service was bad, I'll count it for an off night.

I was so excited to see this new restaurant and couldn't wait to give it a try. There was a very friendly man offering samples while we waited in line. Suggestion make sure you pass out outstanding samples to keep people in line. It was some sort of meat dish with salad. The meat had no flavor, so I decided to steer clear of their meat dishes. I opted their macaroni and cheese which has point reyes blue cheese. Sounded different and it sure was! The blue cheese didn't work at all it was gross. My friend had a crab melt, which one would thing was impossible to mess up. Well it has coleslaw on it and boasted to be their ""secret recipie"". They really need to keep it a secret all right. It was tart and terrible! I was going to give them one more try, but both of our stomachs were not doing so well. If you're looking to drop 10 lbs in an hour then give them a try otherwise I will be obstaining from their sustainable food!!!

I love restaurants and dining. I was very intrigued with the idea of Latin food with Asian flair. The decor of the restaurant is very nice, the wait staff were very friendly, the drinks were excellent, but the food is HORRIBLE! I felt the food was trying to incorporate too much and failed in flavor and was terrible. I really wanted the food to be great, but it was a great disappointment

I was so happy to find out that one of our favorite sushi restaurants was opening closer to home, but don't confuse their San Francisco location with this one. The restaurant is beautiful, the drinks are great and so is the music, but the food is BAD and expensive. Another typical restaurant at Santana Row where it's all look and no substance. If you want to be seen, be seen at the bar and drink away. The cocktails are great, but the food is a terrible excuse for sushi.

Da Lat Cafe offers amazing cuisine at an even more impressive price. They have a soup with FRESH crab and nice size prawns. This no frills local is one of our favorites!
