    Fun, Festive Atmosphere

What I like about Vamos is it's great, big space. The food is good, not extraordinary but pretty good. They have really reasonable specials Mondays through Wednesdays. I had the burrito which I liked, the guac was good and the tres leche cake was really good! Our waitress was fantastic. I would def try it. Great music and a good place for large groups.

    Grocery/Snack Place

JAS mart is a cute little Japanese outpost that usually serves as both a grocery store and dessert/snack shop. They have really yummy looking desserts that look mouth-watering. It's more cafeteria than cafe but, worth a stop for some groceries or coffee and lite snack.

Coffee & Brunch In A Cute, Comfy Setting

This review is on the Univeristy Place location. Food is excellent, got the brunch breakfast special with eggs which was really good. Prices are reasonable. Coffee/Teas are good. Great little brunch spot to try. The only down side is that it's cash only.

    LOUD & Average Food

I know this place is somewhat of a New York favorite but, honestly I thought it was average. I had the fried oysters, fried clam strips and chowder. The chowder was good but, have had comparable and the oysters nd clam strips were a bit...""overfried"" for me. The arching, cavernous space would have been beautiful and it was something I was excited about, except for the fact that it becomes a giant tuning fork, echoing sound after sound through it's underground cavernous space. Some might like it but the food and the fact that it's just too loud in there, don't do it for me.

    Daring & Excellent!

The rustic setting of Inoteca would hardly suggest the inventive and daring menu that it holds. I had quail toast and a smattering of other little plates that I cannot remember but that were fantastic. If you are in the dessert mood, the ice cream that comes with espresso is a mix of a gelatoy/milkshake heaven that I highly, highly recommend. The only bad thing I have to say is that this place does not take reservations and waiting might be a pain if you don't live in the neighborhood.

RETREAT....If You Are Within 2 Ft Of This Place

Arrived with my boyfriend for a friend's bday party here at around midnight on a Friday night. Place was packed....in a large part due to my friend's bday party and the 30+ people that showed up (girl's popular, what can I say?). You'd think with a large party like that and table service you'd get the royal treatment. WRONG! The bouncer& promoter that night were the biggest jerks I have ever encountered during all my years out in the city. He wasn't actually rude to me but, I saw him SCREAM at the top of his lungs at a group of the birthday girl's that all males were to ""Forget about coming in,"" and all females with said males ""Were to stop leaving the bar to accompany more males in."" Then he proceeded to snap the velvet rope back into place whereby his ego-tripped world apparently returned to normal and all the bulging veins in his cherry red face seemed to subside. I'm not even joking. His face was about the shade of pasta sauce.....this is how angry a group of people, who were there to celebrate a girl's bday made him. After that little dramatic scene I was so disgusted I promptly got into a cab and hightailed it to where people are civil.

    Fantastic Jazzy Brunch!

The perfect pick-me-up from that Saturday night out is brunch at Jules. The live jazz band just gets your heart singing sweet nothings in no time. Food is excellent and service is good. Live band is outstanding although they might be a bit loud if your ears are still ringing from the night before. Cute, quaint and totally French. One con: the seating is PACKED even for small restaurant standards. Don't go if being a mere 4 inches from your neighbor would scare you. Regardless, this place is a real gem.

    Fantastic Indian!

This place has fantastice Indian food. The food is authentic and good. Drinks are okay, the garlic naan is excellent and comes out about 3X what a normal portion would be. The chicken Masala and Chicken vindaloo are great. Lamb varieties I wasn't as crazy about but then again I'm not that crazy about lamb. Everything fromt he waiter's garb to the copper cups scream authenticity and I love this place. The only thing is, do not sit in the front of the rest in the winter unless you would like to be a frozen over icicle.

    Better Than It Looks!

Phoenix Garden's gaudy green awninged entrance belies a nice little cozy brick-exposed interior. Waiters and waitresses despite other reviews are good. I think they provide pretty decent if not overtly charming, falling all over themselves to please you service. Food is great and authentic. The salt and pepper shrimp, the peppersteak beef and the pan friend noodles with beef are awesome. I'm sure your standby Chinese favs would be just as good. Portions are on the smaller side with a guy needing about 1 and a half orders to be full. Prices are great and best of all, it's BYOB.

    Nice Addition To Neighborhood.....

Banc is modern, cool and yet still remains a homey. It's a nicer, upscale departure from the crowded, standardized bars/ restaurants on 3ave (read Joshua Tree). The food is american, they have a sports bar. Food is pretty good. I had the French onion soup which was surprisingly good and a salad which was equally good. It's a very mixed crowd. Prices are slightly higher than at other places but, you get what you pay for. They have a seperate bar menu which seems to make it a nice place for couples to hang out, eat a little and watch the games at.
