    Awesome jumbalaya!!!!

Boyfriend and I went there on Friday evening, after walking to the St. Louis #1 cemetery. We'd walked quite a while and were so glad to get into the nice, cool, rather dark Coop's. The menu was written on the wall on a chalkboard, and the waiter brought us menus as well -- I like this as I can be sure of what they have, and it's easy to read! I ordered the creole sampler, and Boyfriend ordered jumbalaya supreme. The sampler came with shrimp creole, jumbalaya, and red beans and rice; I switched out the gumbo that came with it for a salad. The jumbalaya supreme had sausage and rabbit as well as shrimp and ham. We both had salads. They make their own dressing which was REALLY good. The lettuce was nice and fresh, and was actually spring mix, not ice berg. The jumbalaya was the highlight of the meal, by faaaaaar. I would consider moving to New Orleans JUST to get this jumbalaya on a regular basis. No exaggeration.

    Wonderfully helpful!

Even though I live in the city, I go to Bryn Mawr Women's Health for appointments. The women there are extremely helpful, make you feel at ease, and are just friendly in general. I was able to get an appointment last year two days after I called; this year it was the week after I called. Their receptionists have great PHONE manners, which really matters a lot to me. They are definitely worth the trip to the suburbs (take the Rt 100 to Garrett Hill and then walk back toward the city away from the stop, up the steps to the bridge, take a right, and then take a left at Conestoga).

    Basic Creole Fare - Yum.

We had...chicken, greens, rice, catfish, macaroni and cheese, and fried alligator sausage. All was really good. The chicken was not the best, but the rest was awesome. The catfish was breaded nicely and tasted good (even though I don't like fish; I tried some of the boyfriends'), the greens were plentiful and tasty, and the macaroni and cheese was cheesy and the pasta not too overdone. The prices are pretty good, and we were able to sit down immediately. The waitor was friendly, and the place was definitely well-liked by the people in it. It is a local-type place. We shared one praline for dessert and it was soooo good. I had never had one before, and I fell in love.

    Gumbo gumbo goooood

Boyfriend and I went here early in the week for lunch. There was a brief wait as the hostess sat another couple, but that was it. We were seated outside, which was perfect as the weather was not too hot, not too cold. The table was rather close to our neighbors (the two tables could also be used for a group of four) but it turned out fine as they were nice people! The food was excellent. Boyfriend ordered chicken andouille gumbo, which he really liked. I ordered red beans and rice with sausage, which was awesome. We were served a nice crusty loaf of bread before the meal, and had we asked could have gotten another for the meal. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient, and the prices were great. At other times I have heard this place gets really crowded, but this is the case with really good places!
