nice relaxed comfortable vibe. my friends and i did a research run to about 6 places last friday night for a reunion gathering, most of us around 55. yes, it was an old crowd, until later in the night. at that point my cougar friend became surrounded by 25 year olds & old geezers were approaching sweet young things. everyone seemed to be having a fun time.

Loved the Vibe...
I loved the vibe here. I'm from out of state but have gone back several times, sometimes more than once per visit to Memphis. Feels just like the old blues bar it is. No famous names & the music takes you where you want to go. I loved the gumbo so last time I took my 85 year old Mom, the gumbo expert, & she loved it, too.

Blue Plate Special & Blues
Try to get there in time for the Blue Plate Special at lunch. Order the sausage plate to start, a tradition in Memphis. The servers are REALLY friendly & your food will start to come before you're done checking out the memorabilia (the precursor to the Hardrock). The catfish sandwich is great, too.

A Wonderful Find
My teenage son & I spotted this downtown Chophouse while cruising for a reward to his week of training at the Olympic Village. It was that, and more. It had the ambiance in every way of a vintage chophouse. Even as a single woman with a teenager, we were treated royally! When I make it back to Colorado Springs, I will definitely make Mackenzie's a repeat performance.
