Bodega Wine Bar
260 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101
Bodega is not a destination unto iteself, the food is minimal and the space is loud and dark. It is a good place to have a glass of wine while you are waiting for dinner or a movie or if the shopping just gets too overwhelming. The patio closes early and once it does it can get a bit stuffy. Not a great place for a group, but good for 2 - 4 people to catch up.
Clearmans North Woods Inn
7247 Rosemead Blvd, San Gabriel, CA 91775
You have to love a place where you can throw your peanut shells on the floor, kids are welcome, and you can have a steak and a baked potato without breaking the bank. They have large tables and can handle groups. The bar is usually filled with a casual boisterous crowd. This is not the swinging singles club, it is more of a family location.
345 S Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101
Trader Joes is great for organic foods, pre-made frozen dinners and has a great beer and wine selection. It even made $2 buck Chuck (Charles Shaw) wine famous. Parking at this location can be a little hairy because it is the same lot used by the Stores on Lake, but the store is spacious and better laid out then some of the others.
Kidspace Children's Museum
480 N Arroyo Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91103
Kidspace make rainy days and babysitting fun! There are activities for kids of all ages, but it is best for kids between 3 - 10. Everything is interactive, kids are encouraged to run and jump and climb and make noise. They might even learn something along the way - the digging exhibit where you can learn about bugs and fossils is always a kid favorite. And the popular climbing towers made the move and seem to be better than before. Parking at Brookside is a little scary so make sure to keep a close eye on the little ones.
340 E Colorado Blvd Ste 110, Pasadena, CA 91101
Brighton has a wide variety of jewelry, purses, wallets, shoes and knick knacks. Add in the free gift wrapping and it is a great place to go when you need a last minute gift for the woman in your life. Inside of the Paseo Colorado, it is not always easy to get to, but they donate to a large number of community organizations and are worthy of supporting for that alone. The customer service is superb.
