Msgr. Anderlonis and the new awful Fishtown STAR newspaper

I wish they had the Traditional Latin Mass. So many Catholics are thinking about the traditional Church,\r and do not like the modern innovations that have made our Church somewhat Protestant.\r \r Tahnk you to the Rev. Msgr. Joseph Anderlonis of Saint George for his letter to the Fishtown Star Newspaper of February 15, 2012. Msgr. Anderlonis beautifully criticizes The Star for its tasteless editorial cartoon that depicted Cardinal Bevilacqua's coffin. What has happened to The Star? It was bought by a new owner and publisher, Mr. Perry Corsetti, and since that time the newspaper has been awful. This time last year the newspaper was much better. One barely recognizes it as the same Star. We should BOYCOTT The Star, and tell advertisers to sell ad space to The Spirit.

    Author Events are Downplayed

They pay little attention to author events. There is little to no PR for ""visiting"" authors. They promise to put up signs in the store for authors who come and read but then they get really sloppy OR the PR books events manager quits or gets FIRED and they forget to do it. Disaster! Disorganized! Then they apologize, of course, AFTER the damage has been done! They are disorganized to the MAX. This store is a very bad reading venue for authors on reading tours. Borders is SO much better. Barnes and Noble Philadelphia also hires yahoo/puritanical book events managers who quibble with authors about book content. This store is a disaster! I can't say this enough. I used to love Barnes and Noble, so I find writing this a bit painful. They may have good coffee and cheesecake and kiddie books but if you are a author on tour, give this LAME store a PASS!

    Chronic staff changes

This place could be so much better than it is. The clients are basically well cared for but there tends to be some confusion when it comes to the staff. Unfortunately the administration is bent on whimiscal staff changes--change for the sake of change, change because they seek the ""challenge"" of new faces/workers, change because they do not know what they want. A client base such as the one at EWP needs consistency and familiar faces/personalities when it comes to staff, but what they get is a revolving door.

    Heroin and Sugar Daddy Hangout--beware

I was there with a friend some months ago and we witnessed a 20 something guy throw a bar stool at his older male companion, a short guy in a baseball cap. I've seen these two before. The older man buys\r the younger one drinks and then trouble ensues. On this night the bar stool incident really scared people away. Word has it that the older man supplied the younger guy with heroin and alochol and this started the fight. I've seen them around town, in a limo and so forth. It is creepy. Who are they? I hear they go to the Westbury because somebody said that Uncles kicked them out. Who knows. Just be careful.
