I have gone to both this one and the one on Flamingo Road and both are favorites of mine. The food is consistently good (especially the steak salad and the mac and cheese). The decor is fantastic and the bar area is anything but standard with high back ""living room"" chairs and huge booths. The best thing though is the patio. Fire pits, couches, booths, comfy chairs and (at the Flamingo location) at bench swing. Well done landscaping adds to the experience. It's a great place to watch sports too - indoors and out with out having a large screen tv over the bar. Call ahead for outdoor seating though - they often have special events that close the patio.

I have dined here many times. The food is excellent and the portions are huge. The microbrews are very good and the rest of the beer selection and liqour drinks are worth checking out. The southwest vinegarette is a great choice for the salad dressing. The blackened shrimp is delicous as is the rib tip appetizer. The greens are great, but the mac and cheese is a little too much like velveeta. If you are with a large group or ordering for catering keep this in mind - we had my birthday dinner there with 8 people, ordered the backyard family feast that is supposed to feed 4. We were all stuffed AND had leftovers. The portions are huge! Another good reason to eat here is the outdoor seating (with heaters and misters) and the District where it's located is fun to walk around and explore before or after dinner.

The atmosphere was nice inside and dining outside was pleasant once they turned off the misters that were no longer needed and felt like rain at our table. The waitstaff was very good and very friendly. The wine list was good but unfortunatley the food was average to below. We had three dishes at the table, the lamb, the vodka penne and the halibut. The lamb and the penne were disappointing without much flavor to them. I did not taste the halibut but was told it was excellent. Overall it was a pleasant experience and i may go back if I'm in the neighborhood to try another dish, but won't got out of my way. Keep in mind - they do not take reservations or call aheads.

Even though you will be dropping a pretty penny on the hotel it is well worth it. The hotel service was outstanding from the second I stepped off the shuttle to the second I checked out. Everyone was friendly, helpful and speedy. This extended to the Surf Room staff as well. My only service complaint was the somewhat slow and inattentive service we received at two visits to the Mai Tai Bar.
The location of the hotel was perfect, including the walkability of Waikiki and the beach views. The room views were beautiful as well, everything was clean and comfortable.
Again, while pricey it is well worth the value you will get compared to other hotels on the beach in Waikiki
