Overall, I liked this place. The proscuitto plate and bacon wrapped dates were excellent. The cheese course was a little overpriced. The wines by the glass selection is reason enough to go. From a food perspective, I thought with the smaller plates it seemed as though the flavor complexity was lost. Good for a big group, more food to share.

Its worth the drive to try this LA original. The food was great. I got the mushroom tart, which was so flavorful, and the elk for the entree. It was light on the game flavor and very tender. The dessert came with a great Wild Turkey caramel sauce and surprisingly it wasnt gamey at all. The service was very helpful, except for the recommendation of some blue cheese salad. I vote to eliminate salads off menus , it doesnt show the talent of the chef.

To all the people that say Spago is overrated, only come here if you have sophisticed tastebuds. The sweet corn agnolotti was one of the best pasta dishes I have had, very tender and creamy. Foie gras four ways was great. And they make this amazing whipped potato and cheese side to the cote du boeuf. I'm assuming these inexperienced peasants just ordered the chicken or whatever sounded safe.

Great place to enjoy a meal without breaking the bank. The tasting menus are a bargain. The kobe beef was tender and had a rich sauce. First time Ive had foie gras without a fruit based sauce, some type of balsamic or stock reduction and it was pretty rich. Its hard to go wrong here. Its more of a 30s or late 20s crowd, but there are a lot of women at the bar yearning for some attention. The neighborhood isnt the best, I think someone was shot a while back.

I thought the restaurant was good. The place is older and a bit too formal for me, but the spinach gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce was amazing, so tender, so flavorful. It was one of the best pasta dishes Ive had. I had a gnocchi in my pants for the next few hours. The grilled squab was ok, but I would opt for something else on the menu. I just looked at the menu online and most of the un-appetizers, look just that. I would do pasta and some entrees. This place has a great wine list and the service was great.

I went with expectation of have a great meal. The food just wasnt as flavorful as I would have liked. Others say different, so maybe I just had a bad experience. The crowd is mature (old), so I think most of them probably didnt have that many taste buds left. I would probably try this place again, just because Im hoping its better and I know how highly regarded she is. Theres no scene here, just food.

This guy is amazing. His sauces separate him from the rest of the field. I've enjoyed all of his restaurants. The tempura sashimi, the name only is enough reason to order. The sauce was spicy and creamy and went so well with the dish. The lamb chops were great as was the Shanghai lobster. Just stay away from the foie gras, over cooked. Great place to enjoy with friends. I went there with a group and they also thought it was good.
