Dr. Saito doesn't seem to spend much time with his patients who are just in for cleanings, but that's OK because the assistants are very knowledgeable and gentle. The thing that would probably prevent me from getting major work done here is that the equipment and office need to be updated. Everything is clean and in order, but circa the late '70s.
Sushi of Naples
735 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91101
Sometimes this place is just bad. Sometimes great though--they do a teriyaki salmon special occasionally that's real tasty, and the sushi is great as often as it is not-so-great (though not well-presented). Overall, the food is more heavier in the tummy than it should be for Japanese cuisine. And what's up with the cold mashed potato with corn in it on the side of combo dishes? But it's pretty great value, just don't go with someone who minds McSushi.

This place has the hipster-hotel thing down in a non-obnoxious way that the Paramount could never understand. Love the jellybean jar that matches the room color! Some of the pricing (drinks at the bar, for instance) is totally outrageous, but you can get a room here for a good price if you work it. The suites and mini-suites are wonderful. It's super-modern and boxy in design, but for those who spend a lot of time in hotels, it's different and sometimes thats all that matters.
