Buckhead Italian Market Deli
3655 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342
I have always loved Italian food, but after we came back from 10 days in Florence, my wife and I had developed a serious addiction to Italian food. Upon landing my wife said ""I am really craving a good Canoli."" We searched for the best canoli in Atlanta, and Buckhead Italian Market and Bakery popped up. \r
I stopped by and met the owner, who was charming, and had a wonderful selection of Prosciutto, Soppressetta, aged provelone and fresh mozzarella, and of course, the best canoli we have had since our return. They have large deli cases of lasagna, (4 choices!) other pasta, salads and an entire case of fresh baked goods. (The venetian cookies are delicious.) I took dinner home, and a love affair was born.\r
Marchello and Nonna are wonderful gracious hosts, and this has become one of our favorite places to eat, even tho it is a haul from Decatur. They do not sell wine, but have glasses on hand if you want to bring your own, which we do. ( You can save a lot of money going to Greens to get a good bottle, and drinking it there.)\r
The food is exactly what we had become accustomed to in Italy, simple, but perfectly prepared. The deli meats are the best qulaity we have found in Atlanta, and the only stuff that tastes like what we were used to eating in Florence. This is the place to go for fantastic food in a casual atmosphere. None of the national chains can hold a candle to this place, and even the other local spots have a hard time measuring up. \r
The prices are really good for the quality; you could spend twice as much and not have a better meal. If you love Italian food, you owe it to yourself to visit.
