My family of three received Medicaid benefit in Suffolk county.

Dec 2012

We moved to Nasau and according to Medicaid information online mentioned that I could transfer my benefit to Nassau as the social service staff in Suffolk told me so. But when I called Medicaid, I was told to cancel Suffolk Medicaid and reapply in Nassau.

Jan 2012

I went to DSS Nassau Uniondale, I was told I couldn't reapply yet cause Suffolk Medicaid was not cancel yet. I called Medicaid, they said I suppose to be able to reapply already. After being kicked like a ball, I reapply and denied. Was informed that my child might eligible for Child Health Plus. I also tried to apply for child care benefit, but they said they run out the form and would send to my address.

I went back to DSS since didn't receive any child care form, they had no form in English. I took in Spanish as my husband could help me out and dropped the form with documents needed.

Dropped my husband's job stubs as requested.

Dropped my husband's employment verification. Seemed they lost my documents, so I had to provide my family ID's, my pay stubs and statement from child care where I dropped my baby.

The social worker named Ms. Monteverde kept asking for my husband 2nd job pay stub which the first 3 weeks I did provided already. Because he just started 3 weeks temporary on 2nd job through agency. Then she asked again when my husband started working as permanent worker where he had no access for pay stub but got employment verification as I provided before.

Since the whole period of time applying for chid care service I never have any access calling Ms. Monteverde. I kept calling many many times and never answered. Just got once miss call and tried to reach back just impossible to get answer from her. I called another social worker at 516.227.7463 whom told me if I could provided job time keeping record to prove that my husband still work on 2nd job. Again I drop that doc at DSS.

I just didnt understand how the social worker works. I was requested again and again the employment verification for my husband 1st job and employer's statement from his 2nd job. I got them and dropped at DSS.

I got letter for Denial Child care Benefit for reason that I did not provided the pay stubs for my husband on 2nd job and correct employment form. How could it be the reason such a things when I really pushed my patient to the limit to provide every single doc needed while to reach her for more detail info just remain impossible. I do understand, social worker always so busy handling many cases, but to answer my call just once for the whole Feb to May? When I told my child day care owner, she called the social worker, she was told the denial cause of our earn too much. So, why was stated differently on denial? I did my best to be honest by providing all information needed, even I ignored the day care owner whom suggested me telling that my husband not in US just to fraud the system. At last I could not provide my child for better day care since the day care where I dropped my baby treated my baby unfairly and I quit her from that horrible place. I believe the day care prefer to receive the child care benefit than my lower private pay that's why day care treated us sourly.



Hope the next applicant receive better service with a smile if possible.
