From what I'm reading some of you have had a bad experience at the southern buffet buy I'm asking everyone to give it a second chance. new management and new servers with great attitudes. Don't let these bad reviews ruin it for you. Come on in and let us change you're mind :-)

My husband, our 4 children, and I ate here. We were very disappointed. Anyway the food is canned and greasy, it has no taste and I actually felt ill after eating there. I couldn't finish my food. I tried to go to the buffet and find "something". Unfortunately I chose the fish with hair on it. I politely told the manager about the hair, the food had no taste, was greasy and it just wasn't good. He actually told me to go get my plate and "show" him the hair so he could examine it and make sure it was actually hair. He never said "I'm sorry" or "I apologize" The manager without saying a word left me standing there, disappeared to the back and came out with the cook behind him. I just stood there silently the cook was going on about him having to see the food to make sure it was hair because they wear hair nets (he was wearing a baseball cap mind you). The cook never addressed me directly. I was just standing there while he was talking to the manager as he 'reluctantly' gave me a refund for my plate. Never said a word to me after telling me to go get my plate and no I was not loud or angry. This was the worst eating experience I've ever had :( Very Very bad. I would welcome a reply from Southern Buffet & Grill. I will be posting this same review on other sites as well.

love the seafood day. I'm glad they open in union city. all that fresh salad and home cooking foods. seems like they changed management recently and i think it was a great thing. i used to go there for dinner with my family and servers were teenagers and you just can tell they do not wan to work.```now is so much better. great value great food. even better, i just found out they got different foods everyday. sunday menu was great. love the turkey wings.!

I don't know what happened to this place. It was good when they had the old employees who made the atmosphere great. The atmosphere is bland, the menu never changes. The food is cold and the employee moral is low. They are not happy working there you can tell. The good cashiers don't even work there anymore. Bathrooms are not clean and you can tell they don't clean throughly. The new manager is loud and obnoxious talking on his cell and touching food. The asains that work there act like they're scared of black people. They need the old employees back because the rate their business is slowing down.. People are just gonna stop coming altogether.

I live in the area and find myself stopping by, especially if I don't feel like cooking or fast food.. The food is far from Golden Coral, but it's o.k.. You really have to catch them at the right time because the food is basically the same everyday and is sometimes cold. The fruit isn't as fresh as someone wrote in their review and I do agree that alot of these reviews are by the employees.

delicious food and great price. best place in union city~ LOVE their SALAD AND HIBACHI GRILL. i'm tired of fast food.BTW, they have really fresh fruits and salads. lunch is only about 6 dollars something. lots of selections. best of all, they have different menu everyday ~lol. breakfast is good. only $5.99. their food is keep getting better and better since they first opened. i eat there almost everyday.. and i will recommand everybody to give a try. BTW, their servers really are pretty and provide excellent services.

Was in the mood for beakfast so I asked my fiance to cook this morning and we didn't have any eggs so it was take out for us. Been passing the spot for a minute now and decide to google the number. Saw the great reviews and couldn't wait to dig in. This taste as close as it gets to jailhouse food. When I signed my tab the cashier giggled and told me to have a nice day, I assumed it was because I didn't leave a tip (why would I, its take out) but now I know its because she knew what she sold me, awful food. Haven't tried the dinner, sure hope its better than breakfast.

Went this morning for the first time for some take out, prices were good $3.29lb for take out but that was the only thing good. I'm assuming the other reviews are from employees of this place because this food was not good. I'm not a very picky eater and I couldn't even eat the food. The selection sucked. Haven't tried the dinner but if its anything like the beakfast I Don't see this place lasting longer than a year.

Wow!! Great Food,Great Customer Service,and a freaking wide variety of dishes to choose from,AND THIS WAS JUST BREAKFAST!
If u loved Shoneys,you will really love this place.
1st,They don't put a lot of salt on their food,you season your own food..
2nd,I went for the breakfast buffet and its friday,saturday and sunday only and its ony 5.99 plus tax..
3rd,There is a wide variety of food at this place and the little guy from the kitchen kept coming out to replenish it and he kept it well stocked.They never ran low or out of anything and the food was hot each and everytime(im a big eater)i went to the buffet.
4th,Its a full time buffet.Breakfast,Lunch,and Dinner.
And,the cashier even told me that they served hot wings too!! Yummy!!
5th,speaking of the cashier,she and all of the others who worked there have excellent customer service..EXCELLENT!
I have worked in customer service all my life from mickey d's,to banquet catering at coca cola in downtown atlanta to training call center reps and the staff at this place is very,very knowlegeable about how the food is prepared,the menu,and service with a smile..
They also have very,very nice uniforms that they wear and are very neat and clean in apperance..
And last,6th,the only downfall about this place is that,although it looks like a mini "Golden Coral"(with its hibachi grill cooked to order) they don't have any menu's to read nor a website.
But thats the only thing i saw that i felt needed improvement.
This place(with the great customer service and prices)is well needed in the community and i really do believe it will be a main stay for many years to come..
If you loved shoney's,you will really,really fall in love with Southern Buffet and Grill..Trust..
Give it a try!

I went to Southern Buffet and Grill the other day and let me tell you, the food was great the serve was great, the atmosphere was very, very pleasant. I would encourage anyone that like great hot food try Southern Buffet and Grill.
