Our family really likes this place. They have a great salad bar, the ambiance is nice and the servers are friendly. The food is always good and comes out warm as it should.
We will continue to go here.

Leaves Something to be Desired

I went to the Potpourri house for a lunch with some friends. We all got the salad bar. I tried a bunch of different things but really only liked the regular salad. As far as a "salad" bar, it doesn't offer very much. It mostly has lots of different pastas, some disgusting tuna stuff, and other dishes - not really what I imagine with a salad bar. The baked potatoes were decent and one of the soups were good, but after hearing such rave reviews about the bar for so long, I was definitely disappointed. Plus, it was a little pricey for me since I ended up not really liking anything.
When I went there for a private banquet at dinner, the food was a little better. It was definitely unique and different, but not really to my taste. The salad provided was their spinach-strawberry salad. I didn't expect to like it, but it was okay. The strawberries (which I thought would be the only thing I'd like) though were pretty gross tasting.
The atmosphere is nice and it's one of the few places in Tyler that you could dress up or dress down.
The shop is great - a big selection of different types of gifts. I guess you'd call it a "boutique." It's a tad pricey, but not too unreasonable. It's definitely geared towards older women. I'm in my 20s and while I appreciate the gifts and like some things, most seems a little too old for me.

Been eating at the Potpourri House for many, many years. Don't recall EVER eating bad food, not even mediocre. Their sandwiches are delicious and unique. Salad bars are never my first choice but they offer a wide array of foods on theirs and the soups offered are always delicious. My husband calls the chicken fried steak "gourmet CFS." I couldn't disagree more with one of the previous reviews concerning their help. Store clerks and waiters are extremely helpful and courteous. At times even the chef has visited with us. And believe me, we are not special customers, just regular folks! We have hosted family celebrations there and have been SO very satisfied with the price, food and services. It's the best!

Unique

I love me some Potpourri House. They have the best collection of Jim Shore pieces in Tyler. Their food is also good. The salad bar is very good and the items that I have tried off the menu have also been good. Its a very romantic place too, so take your honey and enjoy.....
