Stacey graduated from the Physician Assistant program at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004 with a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPA). This rigorous program lasted over 2 years, which included over a year of classroom instruction followed by a year of hands-on clinical training in the core medical fields of primary care, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, emergency medicine, and psychology.
Primary Care
Certified Physician Assistants (PA-C) are medical providers formally trained in primary care medicine, graduating from one of over 100 accredited academic medical-model training programs in the United States.
Family Practice
Dermatology or equivalent (family practice or internal medicine) experience is helpful and a college degree or a Medical Assistant degree is required. Recent bachelor’s degree graduates or people applying to a PA or NP program have done very well here and gain valuable experience. The position requires superior verbal communication skills and willingness to learn a lot quickly.
Urinary Incontinence
Postmarketing reports indicate that the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic and all botulinum toxin products may spread from the area of injection to produce symptoms consistent with botulinum toxin effects. These may include asthenia, generalized muscle weakness, diplopia, blurred vision, ptosis, dysphagia, dysphonia, dysarthria, urinary incontinence, and breathing difficulties. These symptoms have been reported hours to weeks after injection. Swallowing and breathing difficulties can be life threatening, and there have been reports of death. The risk of symptoms is probably greatest in children treated for spasticity, but symptoms can also occur in adults treated for spasticity and other conditions, particularly in those patients who have underlying conditions that would predispose them to these symptoms. In unapproved uses, including spasticity in children and adults, and in approved indications, cases of spread of effect have occurred at doses comparable to those used to treat cervical dystonia and at lower doses.

Actinic keratosis (AK), also known as solar keratosis, is a precancerous lesion of the epidermis (outer layer of skin) that is caused by long-term exposure to sunlight. Chronic sunlight exposure alters the keratinocytes (cells that make up the majority of the epidermis) and causes areas of your skin to become scaly, rough, discolored and sometimes tender to the touch. AKs are most commonly found on sun-exposed areas such as the face, lips, ears, neck, scalp, forearms and backs of hands. People who have fair skin and light- colored hair and eyes are at the greatest risk of developing AKs. Individuals who are immunosuppressed, either by cancer chemotherapy treatments or organ transplants, and who have an immuno-deficiency disorder, are also considered high risk for developing AKs.
Radiation Therapy
Most basal cell carcinomas are caused by chronic sun exposure, especially in people with fair skin, light hair and blue, green or grey eyes. In a few instances, there are other contributing factors such as burns, exposure to radiation, arsenical intoxication or chronic dermatitis. Basal Cell Carcinoma Treatment Options After sections of tissue from a biopsy of your skin are assessed under a microscope by a dermatopathologist and determined to be basal cell carcinoma, your dermatologist will discuss several treatment options. Your dermatologist’s choice of therapy depends on the size, location and subtype of basal cell carcinoma. Your age and general health are also taken into consideration. The more common treatment options include excisional surgery, electrosurgery, radiation therapy and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Your dermatologist will discuss these treatment options with you.

Botox
BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.
Brow Lift
If dynamic wrinkles make you look older than you are, cosmetic denervation can smooth these out and give you a more youthful and pleasant appearance. However, this procedure cannot improve wrinkles due to aging and sun-damaged skin since they are unrelated to facial muscle contractions. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport injections will not improve sagging skin or replace the need for a facelift or brow lift.
Face Lift
This procedure does not result in that face-lift, pulled back, look. Also, there is no cutting or stitching involved in resurfacing. CO2 laser resurfacing restores your skin to a healthy state, similar to that of skin that has not experienced sun damage or scarring. With proper sun protection, results can persist for more than five years. It truly forces the skin to repair itself and ‘turns back the clock’ on your facial appearance.
Laser Resurfacing
Full CO2 laser resurfacing is a serious invasive cosmetic procedure with dramatic and immediate results. This is not a fractionated lunchtime peel. CO2 laser resurfacing requires a patient’s commitment to several days of downtime for recovery, however, it continues to be an ideal method for eliminating moderate to deep lines and creases, due to aging and sun damage. It is a tried and true approach to serious skin rejuvenation.

Skin Cancer
Melanoma may affect anyone at any age and can occur anywhere on the body. An increased risk of developing this disease is seen in people who have fair skin, light hair and eye color, a family history of melanoma or who have had melanoma in the past. These tumors can arise in or near a preexisting mole or may appear without warning. Melanoma may spread to other organs, making it essential to treat this skin cancer early.

Acne Treatment
Limit sun exposure—Tanning only masks acne at best. At worst, sun exposure can lead to skin damage, especially if you are using an acne treatment that makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight and UV rays (this includes tanning booths).
Cyst
Ulcer
Side effects are uncommon. They include brown spots or small crusts or ulcerations at the injection sights. If a brown streak occurs along the course of the treated vessel, it will fade without treatment. Some vessels may require three to six treatments before responding completely. Ankles frequently swell for a few days after they are treated. Thrombophlebitis of the treated vessel occasionally occurs. It s always superficial and responds well to aspirin (or other similar anti-inflammatory drugs), heat and antibiotics (infrequently needed). Infrequently tiny new vessels develop at treatment sights. They are treated the same way the original vessels were. Rarely, an ulcer may need to be excised in order to speed-up healing.
Eczema
The goals of eczema treatment are to heal the skin, prevent new flare-ups, and reduce itching and urge to scratch, which can lead to even greater problems.
Lesions
Atypical nevi, also known as atypical moles, are benign lesions that have irregular and indistinct borders, are darker in color, and often larger than normal moles. An Atypical nevus occurs when melanocytic cells that represent your skin color grow in organized clusters instead of being evenly distributed throughout your skin. These atypical nevi generally first appear during adolescence, although they can develop during any period of your life. Family history, overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, and extreme hormonal changes during puberty and pregnancy are also contributing factors in the development of atypical nevi. Atypical nevi can be found anywhere on the body but are most commonly found in sun-exposed areas such as the back, chest, face, abdomen and extremities.
Chemical Peels
Dr. Cohn has specialty training and extensive experience in pediatric dermatology, skin cancer and skin of color. She also specializes in procedures for improving aging skin including: laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, fillers, sclerotherapy for large varicose and spider veins, hair loss in women, and alpha hydroxy acids for skin rejuvenation.
Skin Care
After your acne clears, your doctor may recommend that you continue therapy with a topical retinoids to keep it under control. It is always a good idea to maintain good skin care and use skin care products labeled as “non-comedogenic” (do not promote acne)
Microdermabrasion
Vibradermabrasion is the new way to do microdermabrasion. Vibradermabrasion Therapy produces exfoliation on any part of the body. The process is fast and very comfortable for patients and produces exceptional results. Vibradermabrasion utilizes a textured, vibrating paddle to exfoliate the skin as opposed to the crystals and suction used during microdermabrasion which can be messy and uncomfortable. Vibradermabrasion improves skin texture and tone by smoothing fine lines and acne scarring and by lightening uneven pigmentation. Treatments are generally performed in a series of six to achieve optimal improvement.
