Game Day Must-Dos »
Some sports fans like to rock up to a bar and cheer on their team. Others live for the traditions: tailgating, party-hosting, and dressing head-to-toe in fan apparel. Here are so…
Use YP's sizzling summer checklist to pack in as many backyard barbecues, family trips, and memorable outings as you can before the kids head back to school.
The food and service were some of the best in Tucson. We arrived at 6pm on Saturday night, and there was quite a wait. But a table opened at the bar, which is first come, first served. We grabbed the seats and the young lady waiting on us cleaned the table within seconds. She took our drink order and provided us with menus. We had our drinks within three minutes, and ordered the stuffed mushrooms for an appetiser. They were really good. I ordered the light tilapia which is listed at under 550 calories, and my wife had the oriental chicken salad. I tried a bite of the salad and it was really good. Most low calorie meals I order at restaurants are kind of bland. The tilapia was an amazing surprise. It came on a bed of rice pilaf, and had some excellent greens as a side. The whole combination was unbelievable, and I'll certainly order it again. For desert, my wife and I split an apple berry crumble with two small scoops of vanilla bean ice cream. It was superb. On top of the fabulous food, we had an amazing server who was always on top of things. I'd rate this place as 100/100! I'll certainly be back.
Went there on a Friday night at 5:45pm. Our party of five was seated right away. We ordered several varieties of beer, and all of them were acceptable, but no home-runs. We ordered off the menu, and were surprised at how fast we were served. I ordered the fried shrimp special. It included lots of large fried shrimp, but the batter was very tasteless. They served it with a shrimp sauce that was mostly horseradish. The real drawback was that they sat us back to back with the bar. We had about 8-12 inches between our backs and the back of the patrons standing at the bar. This is way too close and made for an uncomfortable seating experience, expecially when one of the bar patrons started to leave and was surprised by how close we were and stumbled over my wife. He was very apologetic, and there was "no harm-no foul". Overall - I'd go back at least once more, but I'd ask not to sit right next to the bar.
Where do you go when you're not at home in Green Bay? We spent December 2014 in Tucson, Arizona and found the perfect Packer Bar - Famous Sam's on Pima. (Not the classiest joint in town but it had everything we needed: 2 Large Screen TV's for great Packer viewing (+ a bunch of various sized smaller TVs and the option of watching the other games), Terrific Fans, great friendly service, really good hamburgers, and you can make reservations to guarantee a seat. (That's not necessary every Sundays, but for the Packer -vs- Lions December game it was a must. A good time was had by all - except the 6 Lions fans.) Thank for a good Packer Experience 3 times!
