Eastside Karate

Sensei Damon has an amazing breadth of experience and knowledge. He has an extremely high level of understanding of karate, not to mention jujitsu, aikido, and kung fu. He shows you that karate is soooo much more than block and punch/kick, both in terms of self defense and personal development. I walked into Eastside Karate in 2001. Since then, I've moved to South Dakota and back, attended the U of A, studied abroad in Australia, work full-time in Tucson and had 2 kids. Through it all, I've kept coming back to Eastside Karate. In college, I would take the bus across town to attend class. When I had a baby, I'd bring her along while I trained. In terms of quality of martial arts, learning experience for kids (and adults), self defense, and personal development, Eastside Karate is easily the best in Tucson and one of the top dojos in the nation.

I started my martial arts journey in Canada in 1974. Then I moved to Tucson in 1993 and searched for a good dojo. I checked out 18-20 different martial arts schools. After talking to Sensei Bill Damon for a few minutes, I knew I'd found the right place to train. Sensei Damon has been training since the 60's and brings a wonderful wealth of knowledge and experience to Eastside Karate. I have been training here for 20 years now and am very happy with the professional, technical, traditional karate instruction I have received. This place was recommended to us by friends and our son has been attending for a couple of years now. He is looking forward to every class. Experienced teachers are very good with kids and sensei has more than 50 years of practicing and teaching karate. Classes have good balance of theory, practice, learning safety and playing games for younger kids to keep them interested. I would definetely recommend this place to anybody who wants to learn traditional style of karate.
