- Pfeil Hardware is locally owned and operated. Deane and Jeffrey Pfeil opened Pfeil Hardware on September 22, 2009 in historic downtown Troy, NY after more than a year of planning, researching and visiting lots of urban hardware stores. Having done two major redevelopment projects in Troy in the past six years, they were very aware of the need for a good, full-service hardware store downtown that would serve residents, businesses, contractors and students. Steven Lesnewski, a seasoned, full-time retail professional manages the day-to-day running of the Pfeil Hardware. He brings 25 years of retail hardware experience, including merchandising, employee management, inventory control, equipment rentals and extensive paint knowledge. The store is full of all kinds of things that can help you get through winter weather as well as help with routine electrical and plumbing repairs and household projects. We also have a good housewares department with lots of small appliances, kitchen implements, canning supplies, pots & pans, wine glasses, decorative platters and, of course, our Surprise Gifts department with a nice selection of gifts for everyone in your life, even your dog or cat!

It’s great to see that old fashioned customer service still exists. When you walk into Pfeil’s Hardware you can expect to be approached for assistance by staff that is not only experienced, but also takes an interest in providing you with what you need. During a recent do-it-yourself plumbing mission, Pfeil’s not only took the time to provide me with all the “correct” supplies but explained in great detail what I had to do to attack my project. These guys do a great job, you’ll never be let down by their first-rate service.
Don't drive the 7 miles to the big boxes 'cause you won't save any money there. Pfeil hardware keeps a huge inventory in stock and always seems to know what's going to break in my house...and the resulting fixes I need. Plus, I get what I need without having to walk 3 miles through the big box concrete maze.
Great place. Unlike big box, always a knowledgeable human to help you get what you need, fast. Also, building has the cleanest windows in Troy.
This place is the best. Saved my bacon on multiple occasions. Great people, incredible selection, exceptional prices, and the best service. Beats the big box guys by a long shot. Everything you need including the kitchen sink. I know others that have been rescued by the friendly folks at Pfeil. Every city needs a place like this.
You can't go wrong with Pfeil's. From weekday shopping with our business account, to weekend projects, they are always reliable, courteous, and helpful.

Provided by SuperpagesGreat store! Terrific selection, knowledgeable sales staff. Benjamin Moore paints and an extensive plumbing section. Neat gift department. Worth a trip just to see the store in a great restored building in Troy.
