I think it would be better if the pastor or assistant pastor greeted you at the door and said good bye when you left. The greeters are friendly but the other people could be friendlier. It's modern looking inside, not sure what the wierd silver things outside the building are. They need to have altar call and explain salvation--accepting the lord. They need to have communion more.I'd like it better if the pastor didn't use guilt trips to get people involved with serving at the church or paying for or going on mission trips.I seen someone post about poisonous water and people freezing to death in South Dakota and he said the church might help them when it gets bigger.I guess he's God is big enough to help people in Haiti but too small for people in our country. They teach the bible. The minister is humorouse makes fun at him self and he's short comings.Makes playful jabs at stereo typical church folks.Could have more positive messages on Gods blessings, gifts and miracles he puts he's faith into believing life is hard Can't say he's a fan of Joel Olsteen,Joyce Meyer or Norman Vincent Peal.It is very theatrical down to the minister will cry at each service at the same part of his message or say this is the first time he said some thing which he said at all the services. The music would be better if it wasn't so loud it's over kill.During worship you get blinded by the light show which is distracting. The kids stuff is great Adam is really in love with God and on firer. Having the kids puck food is wrong there are kids with eating disorders. The recovery group is good Mike could use some speach classes and he's wife knows nothing about recovery but at lease she doesn't go and gamble with people addicted to gambling like the old leader C.
The people here are great, but sadly this"church" tries so hard to be cool that I beleive they compromise the high standard we as christians are supposed to uphold. I likewise attended for over 2 years and I had to overlook off color jokes and stupid comedy skits usually done on the TV screens. Too much like SNL or MTV definetly not seperate from the world. Pastor told us to watch Batman and Harry Potter to prepare for his sermon toipic. While going thru the 10 commandments, "pastor J" felt that he actually had to say G_D D____T and take Jesus' name in vain just to show us what not to do. For the 6 comm. do not murder, they felt they had to bombard us by their 3 giant screens one after another modern hollywood murders from blockbuster movies...I was fed up and knew better than to come back for adultery week...Silly signs and videos making satan look cool, witty, and funny_pastor posts regular interviews with satan on youtube now. Of course a rockin worship band, top notch as long as they arent playing U2 or something.:(
I guess this is whats called seeker sensitive maybe even emerging, cater to the unchurched ... a sad new fad for the churches trying to fill the pews.disappointed but not defeated pray for the leaders!!
I have been attending Metro South for over 2 years now... I love it! It is, as they say, it is a modern and relevant church! The usage of different forms of media (e.g. intro and supporting video's, the live band instead of an organ, etc) make it even more so. It is a very relaxed, non threatening environment. Feel free to wear what you want, no one will judge you. Grab a coffee and bring it in with you - you are more than welcome to! This is a church that young people and young adults will actually enjoy, but older adults (or mom and dad) would enjoy it as well... Give it a shot, I would bet that you will like it! :-)
