Townsend Elementary School is a part of the Appoquinimink School District and enrolls more than 300 students in grades one through five. Its facilities include a library, gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria, counseling suite, technology laboratory, and music and art rooms. The school operates a parent-teacher association that encourages parental involvement in children s education and sponsors various fundraising events and activities. It conducts classes in math, science, social studies and language arts. Townsend Elementary School provides special education for students with various disabilities. In addition, the school operates a student council and art, walking, drama and math clubs. Founded in 1932, Townsend Elementary School is located in Townsend, Del.
