The death of anyone close to you is a hard and trying experience. The staff, including the manager Don, was extremely helpful to us during this time.

We had prearranged the cremation and all the information, since two of the three next of kin lived out of state, and when the time came for my father to pass, it all went incredibly smoothly. Don and the team worked with me to get my father's obituary posted in the local paper, on the area tv channel, as well as my father's home town paper in Kentucky. There are very few people that I would feel comfortable with in that time frame, and the staff at Buresh went above and beyond to make sure all our concerns were handled.

Overall

During my grandmother’s service, my cousin’s one year old daughter was laughing and making noises loudly. Not wanting to draw attention away from the service, she stepped outside and I followed her. The funeral home had the ceremony over a speaker system throughout the building, which was extremely helpful. We sat outside with the doors shut waiting for her to quiet down to go back in. During this time, the baby was still making noises, not crying. The funeral director, Matt, was texting someone the entire time. He put his phone down and stepped out of his office and insisted we go to the lobby area because of her noise. He was very frank and to the point. We were both offended by his tone towards us, but we went to the back lobby.

The baby quieted down so we went back into the hallway to listen to the ceremony. She started talking again and he said to us, “I will not tell you again. You have to go to the lobby or leave because I am missing my cues for the ceremony.” Again, we were in shock that someone would speak to us in such a disrespectful manner. We responded with, “You don’t need to be so rude,” and made our way back to the lobby. While we were going back to the lobby, I said to him, “We just want to hear the service.” He continued to speak aggressively and finally I put my hand up and said, “Please don’t speak to me like I am a child.” He walked down the hallway towards me, stood extremely close to me, bent down so he was at eye-level with me, and said, “Would you like me to escort you out of my building? I have asked you nicely more than once to stay in the lobby and when I miss my cues, I will have the family come talk to you about it”. I understand he has to do his job, but it is extremely unprofessional to speak to anyone like this, especially to a grieving family. We were only trying to listen to the service, and to threaten someone is beyond inappropriate. I can only imagine how he would feel if someone spoke to him or his family in this manner.
