We have a 2.5 year old home and had preventive maintenance service performed on 7 Apr 16 after repeated solicitations from REM. Coincidentally the AC broke the next week. We called to have them diagnose the problem and were told it was the blower motor control module. They also recommended replacing the blower motor. Repair estimate +$1200 if not under warranty and +$600 if the parts are under warranty. On 18 Apr 16 we went with REM and with a military discount they said it would be $600. I assumed it would be a 4-6 hour repair. When I got home my wife said he was done in 45 min. I called and talked with the manager to se how they justify $800 per hr...he said they price on the job not hourly. He said he would talk with the tech who performed the work...we never heard back. After talking with coworkers, friends and doing online research the repair with parts runs $135-$375. Our parts were covered under warranty only labor, and shipping were applicable. We will never use them again.

$343. That's the amount that REM expected me to pay for a capacitor and an hour of their time. I understand that businesses need to make profits, employees need to be paid, and overhead exists. However, unless you're installing a flux capacitor into my AC unit that allows me to hitch a ride with Marty McFly back to 1985, then the price you're commanding is exorbitant and absurd. Last I checked, my AC unit is not a Delorean. Granted, hanging out with Doc Brown would be cool, but I possess enough wisdom to know that capacitors are inexpensive, readily available and easy to change. I can pick them up on Amazon for less than $10 (or I can spend a little more if I want American made), and I even get free shipping with Prime. Convenient! As for REM, they will show up, they will do the job, they will write you an invoice for your soul as payment. Just remember kids, you don't always get what you pay for. Do what I did, tell them to take their part and leave.

If you decide you are going to hire someone to do this "repair," then shop around. All things considered including costly liability insurance and amortization, you should still be able to find a reputable company or individual who can do this work for somewhere in the ballpark of $150, and even at that they will be raking in boatloads of profit.

Purchased a new capacitor on Amazon for $9.99 and spent another $8.99 for overnight delivery. With REM's $85 service call (they still had me pay for them showing up. Fair enough.) and the capacitor I ordered online, I'm up and running for $105. If you don't call them, just order the part and do the repair yourself (with YouTube for consultation), then you may be up and running for $10 to $20. A far cry from $343. Just use caution as to not fry yourself from electrocution in the process.

Don't be fooled by their positive reviews or by the owners polished remarks on bad reviews. This company is just trying to take you for as much as they can make you pay. Capitalism at its finest.

My tenant called me yesterday and told me that my AC unit in my rental house would not running like usually. It was noise and hot. I called REM Air Conditioning of Tampa for my tenant because I've went out the town with my whole family. 5 hours later my tenant called me again to say thank you. REM Air Conditioning of Tampa technician was successfully repaired my AC and it's running smoothly again. Thank you, may God bless your business.

REM Air Conditioning of Tampa is the best AC repair service in Tampa area. I've used other AC repair company and disappointed because they can not fix my AC problem. Then my best friend recommended REM Air Conditioning of Tampa to me so I went to them. The technician was very responsive with my requirement and my concern. He repaired my AC within an hour and WOW I was amazed by his professionalism. My AC working and running again like a new brand. Thanks again.

It's not often that you can whole-heartedly recommend a service company. I seem to run into all kinds of flaky companies. REM AC is an exception. They serviced my hvac system recently. It was having cooling issues. From the inital call, they were very friendly. Not salesman-friendly, but nice-people friendly. Their tech came out and found the problem right away. He then spent extra time going over the rest of the system. They repaired it for a modest fee. Very happy with them.
