- HSW provides expertise in the following three service areas:
HSW specializes in facility and site design and development and utilities master planning including a full suite of engineering services and associated surface/storm water management analysis, permitting and design; storm water and hydraulic modeling; roadway design, wetlands delineations and assessment, wildlife surveys, and mitigation. As combined effort of the civil and environmental work, HSW provides specialized engineering in the design and construction oversight of military training facilities, both domestic and foreign. These facilities include maneuver ranges, training support centers, command training centers, live fire shooting facilities and ranges (small arms, heavy weapons, and armor), and urban and combat assault facilities. Emphasis on outdoor facilities is on environmental sustainability.
Our staff is also experienced with the planning, management and development of water supply needs/sources; water treatment and water conservation programs such as safe aquifer yield determination, establishment of minimum flows and levels, water distribution system design and optimization, watershed modeling and flood area delineation, storm water conveyance, environmental remediation evaluation, design & optimization, environmental forensics, nutrient and sediment transport, and estuarine systems.
HSW staff have extensive experience performing pre-acquisition site assessments (Phase I, Phase II, and III ESAs); determination of complete characterization of groundwater, soil, sediment, and surface water contamination; design, construction, and maintenance of remediation systems; design and implementation of groundwater and surface water monitoring programs; preparation of permit applications; performance of statistical trend analyses of water-quality and water-level data sets; ground- and surface-water flow and fate and transport modeling; Title V and Non-Title V air emission permitting; wetlands delineation and mitigation programs; and expert testimony in litigation cases.
