This has been in Tampa for years! I've never been! It's really run down and old decor. Nearly left but had friends meeting us there. I'm not a big steak person!! The food was awesome!!! The service was ok but understandable since they were busy!! I was pleasantly surprised!!!

Made reservations for 16 at least 5 days before. The food was not hot, the service was terrible-we had to find our waitress on several occasions to refresh drinks and ask for items such as more bread. There was just several other tables that night, so we should not have had the terrible service we did. There was only 2 wait staff and 1 cook on duty.I had been to Frontier many times and always had a good experience.I was very dissappointed and sad to see how bad things have become.Nov.14, 2010 D.St. Jacques

myself and my family have been going to the frontier steak house for over 15 years, we are now into the 3rd generation, the gentleman that was refered to that has played music there is really very good, he can play almost anything you request and he must be doing something right as he has been there for about 20 years. and that is not his only job, memory serves me correctly he works for TECO if not retire by now and has the nicest wife. and frontier has the best mouth watering steaks you could ask for, and the chef will cook it to your order, the service has always been great.

My wife and I went to the Frontier Cattle Co with a $25 gift certificate issued in the name of the restaurant. We gave it to the server prior to ordering our meal. Nothing was said about any problems with accepting the certificate.
After finishing the meal, our waitress said that the certificate was invalid. We protested and she responded that there was nothing she could do about giving us the discount.
The next day we faxed the owner of Frontier Cattle an official complaint. There was no response. We called a few days later as a follow-up. He claimed that he wasn't making any money on the gift advertisement campaign and refused to honor it. I responded we had come in good faith and expected to get a $25 refund off our $63.28 bill. He refused to give us our refund.
Beware of using any certificates at this restaurant. Even though the steak was good the customer server was terrible

We have been going here for awhile. The steaks are always excellent and always tender. However like someone else said the sides leave a lot to be desired. The service is ok but not up to the standards of the type of place you want to take visiting guest who do not live in the area.
We recently had my son come in from out of state and he wanted a good steak. Well of course we took him to the Frontier because it is the best steak. But it was the first time we had been there on the week end and there is a gentleman there that I was informed has performed there for 20 years on week ends. He plays a guitar and attempts to sing. It got on my last nerve and we heard others around us making fun of his singing and complaining about him. It was just so bad it completely ruined the dining experience and we rushed through dinner so fast to get away from it that our friend said he couldnt really tell us if the steak was good or not because the entertainment sort of turned him off from the meal. We heard another lady near us say she had never eaten a steak so fast in here life to get out of there.
If we wanted to hear bad karaoke we would stop in at a local bar. We wanted good steaks and this form of entertainment ruined it. We wont go back on a week end and not so sure will go back at all even though it is great steaks. Just poor business choice in my opinion since it was a friday and the place was pretty empty seems to me like the owner would take a clue that people arent eating there when the entertainment of sorts is there.

First off, my wife and I went to Frontier for steak. I am a strong believer of going to a steak house for steak, a seafood for seafood, etc. I have been to Berns, Charlies and the other various steak houses in Tampa. Pro: The flavor of the steak of excellent. You can actually taste the grill and smokey flavor from the orange chips they used to cook the cuts with. The steaks were done as ordered and was not over or under cooked. I have to say this was the best steak I've had in Tampa flavor-wise. Con: The bread, salad and potato were just that. There was nothing exceptional about the sides. Something that urked me was that you can not pick the steak size. My ribeye only came in 14 oz, the porterhouse 36oz and so forth. You pick your cut but you can not pick your size. Overall it was a good experience. The staff was friendly and attentive. The steaks were steaks that you can tell came from the midwest and not from florida. The steaks were not aged and so they were not as tender as Charlies or Berns but they were more flavorful. I have to say that overall Frontier was the best non aged steak house for your money.
