This dentist is the reason I have difficulty trusting dentists:

My little boy was the victim of an attempted "super-sizing" by #DrStanleySheppard. We went in for an emergency. He was having pain from a space maintainer that needed removing. His tooth was erupting, so it was time. However, I got called to the back because he was overdue (yes, he pulled the bad mother card) for a cleaning and would like to do that as well as remove the space maintainer. Mind you, one of those procedures was free and the other would be $200. As bad as I felt about the overdue cleaning, I was not prepared to spend $200 on a non-emergency on this very day. So I kindly refused 3 different times while he continued to belittle me and my decision. Then he told me to go get the spacer removed (that he seated) elsewhere since I refused the cleaning. My little boy is sitting in the chair waiting and this could have been done in less time than it took to argue with me. First I was confused, next I was stunned, and then I was angry to tears that my little boy is laying in this dentist chair hurting, waiting for a simple snip/tug to be out of pain and this dentist wants to hold him hostage for a cleaning ransom. Now let me tell you, I worked many years for the very best orthodontist in all of Florida, Dr Lunsford (whose father was one of the first orthodontists in Florida ) So for me to come from such a high standard state-of-the-art professional practice and step one foot in another practice should mean something. What it means is that if I put my trust in you, and get treated in this manner, I will make sure you know that you just attempted to super-size the wrong person! By the way, my little boy instantly felt better once the spacer was removed. But my husband had to leave work and come deal with this situation to make it happen.

Dr. Sheppard knows dentistry like the back of his hand. However, he's a grumpy old man with horrible bedside manners. The front office staff is friendly, I don't think I will return or recommend.

His office staff is VERY nice to the children, but he belittles the parents.
