Provided by SuperpagesI'm a college student on a budget so I was definitely worried about being up-charged due to my lack of knowledge on cars.
It's a mom and pop type shop and while that's not everyone's cup of tea, I enjoyed it quite a bit (smelled and looked just like my Grandfather's workshop and everyone there was just as welcoming as he was). While the repairs ended up being VERY expensive, the mechanic working on my car made sure I knew what exactly was wrong and even offered to give a discount if that could help me afford it. I even talked to my dad about it afterwards and he agreed that the price wasn't far off what was expected for the repairs I needed (I have a foreign car).
They're super awesome and work with you to help you understand the problem with your car and how they can help to fix it. Hopefully I won't need to return, but if I do need a repair shop this is the place I'll go!

I just want to add my $ .02 about the outstanding service that I have gotten from Rodney (Newman) over the past many years. He and all of his employees have always treated me with courtesy and professionalism. I was inspired to write this after reading Ebony's comment below. I have taken several of our family's vehicles to Rodney and his folks have always identified the problems early on and repaired my vehicles to my satisfaction. I strongly recommend taking your car or truck to Newman's. SALUTE!!!!!

Provided by Superpagesthere was my car...hood up...trunk up...and some guy doing something(I couldn't tell exactly what it was) I was livid. I called jr and told him and he said "you don't want to upset the mechanic off." I wanted to know why would his workers lie and say my car was ready when it wasn't ?? He apologized and that was it. Trash. Needless to say a friend of mine just bought a truck from them 4months ago...within those four months she's had to replace all four tires...get a new battery and an alternator. She now regrets not listening to me

Bought my car from them...was given a "discount" I viewed it as a blessing and was happy...not realizing that 1 month later I'd be coming out of pocket twelve hundred for bad ball joints !! Which equaled up to the same dollar amount of the"discount" given. Before going to someone else to fix it...i tried giving them a chance Jr said he'd fix it. Left it there for the weekend came back...drove off the lot with my"fixed" car...it sounded horrible...you could still hear the ball joints rattling. Took it back and Jr looked me in my face and said "I'm doing you a favor" well what favor could that of possible been ?? I told him id be back to pick up car because not only was there rattling noise but when I switched gears my car jerked. I was called the next day and was told my car was ready and they would place my keys under the mat. No only was my keys not under the mat...my car was not there. Something told me to go around to the back..

Everytime I think about the way
they ruined my Honda I get very
upset. I purchased the necessary
parts for a/c repair and well they
never put the parts on my car.
When I picked up my car there
was a switch placed by the
windshield wipers and my car
would go only 5 miles per hour. I
ended up leaving it on the
doorstep of Honda dealership. They never fixd my car.They (honda dealers)
could believe Newmans did that
to me but they did. I ended up
buying another car. Im still bitter
and used to wish ill on there
business but no longer. I forgive Newmans.
Ebony, we would first like to thank you for forgiving us. When you first left the vehicle with us we had issues right away. You did originally leave the vehicle for an AC repair, but as we began to replace the AC parts, an electrical problem would keep the car from turning on. We did install free distributor wire plugs and several other parts in the car to help. We talked to the dealer after you traded it in, and he identified a bad computer. We apologize again and hope you have better luck with your next vehicle. Thank you for your business, Management

Hands down the best place in town. I have taken my cars to a multitude of places here in town and after finding Newman's I wont go anywhere else. Great example of their service:
Last summer, my A/C broke. I took it to six places, all six told me it would be over a thousand dollar repair. I didn't have the money, so I drove all summer long with no A/C. Life was not fun. This summer, I took it to Newman's on a friend's recommendation. They pop the hood, say "there is a small part that is a common problem with this model. Let me try that first." Fixed it. Five minutes, $60 later and I had working A/C. They didn't charge me labor and even topped my Freon for free! They just can't be beat.

I towed my car to Newman's after a recommendation. They looked at the car and let us know within 24 hours what was wrong and said they were "100% sure" that what they were going to do would fix the car. The next day we came to get the car, paid $350, and drove away. Within 1 block the car died twice, worse than it was before. We took it back and they just said they'd look at it again. They clearly didn't even take it for a test drive before taking our money. Called the next day and said they have no idea what's wrong with it. Now we are short a car for the weekend too, and out over $350 and are going to have to pay (again) to tow it to another mechanic that knows what they're doing. Newman's has taken our money, our time, and screwed up our car that we now have no way to even get home. I still don't have my car and will update this review when I do, but the outlook isn't great.
They make false promises (100% sure it will work), cut corners and skimp on service by not test driving your car before making you come all the way out there to pick it up and pay for it. Will never ever go there again and I will keep telling people about my experience until my car is fixed (or towed and fixed elsewhere at their expense) and returned to me with a full apology.
Dear Haley H, Thank you for giving Newman's a try. You will recall that you agreed to remove this hurtful comment after we had correctly diagnosed that you had a bad radiator and your spark plugs were getting watered. You recall we fixed it for FREE and you promised to remove the comment. We dont cut corners. We take time to assess the problem and rule out possibilities. Where we can, we cut your costs...not corners. We hope to see you again. The Mgmt.

This company gets a A+ in my book! I have done buisness with the Newman's for many many years and I have had many different things done to my car.Mr. Rodney Newman has been wonderful to me in many different ways. He has been very prompt to say hello and to see how he could be of help to me. He is a very polite man and realy knows his buisness. I have not ever had to bring back anything his company has worked on. Due to the fact that his company is thriving his parking is always full,as is his schedule. When he tells me a time that he will be done with the car I know that I can count on it.I am and always have been extreamly pleased with the quality of work and service. I will continue to do buisness with this company as long as possible. I highly recomend that you give this company a try. You wont be disapointed.

I will also say to the reviewer that gave them 1 star, I know what you are talking about. They are a family owned business that is run like a family owned business. Not a lot of computers and paperwork just good folk trying to do good, quality, respected work. My wife has a Ford escape that had a squeal in the brakes since day on and no one was able to fix it. Younger Rodney fixed it and provided a 1 year warranty. Twelve months later the squeal had returned and good to his word he repaired it at no cost. No fancy computers and paperwork just the word of one person to another with pride in his abilities and craft to stand behind his word. I have done 4 or 5 other repairs including engine pull and replacements with the same warranty and even extended to the new owner when I sold them. Rodney is a far, reliable, honest mechanic that works with the customer which is rare today in these times!

Provided by SuperpagesThis place is HORRIBLE. They are completely unprofessional. When I took my car in to get my ac fixed, I wrote my name and number down in a piece of paper and that was it, they didn't do a detail analysis of my car or anything. They had to call me 4 times asking me what my car was and what I needed to have done on it. Then they said they ordered a part for my car I didnt see any paperwork about the part nor did they even tell what the part was. All the signs were red flags and I should have known better but you live and you learn. AND the icing on the cake...I hade 80 bucks in a secret compartment in my car and when I picked my car up...it was not there. So please avoid this place, the worst part wasnt even that someone stole my money but how poorly and unprofessional their service was. And they only get one star cause I have to higlight at least one
