Heirloom Clocks of Tacoma

Buyers beware. This business is untrustworthy at best and dishonest at worst. I bought a beautiful brass and glass encased mid 20th century Waterbury Crystal Regulator with open jeweled pallet Brocot escapement from this business. I asked the 'watchman' two questions: Does it keep good time and does it strike all hours. He replied yes to both. I found the clock kept good time, but struck all hours except one o'clock. Brought the clock back, explained the issue and left it to be fixed. Returned 3 weeks later to find the problem not fixed and got a 'ghost in the machine' story from the 'watchman'. Lost all confidence in the man, left the clock there, returned home, and called my card company to dispute the purchase. Within a day after initiating the dispute, the 'watchman' called to say the clock was fixed by a 'simple adjustment'. Left the clock there until I lost the dispute because of the business' unwritten and unspoken 'sold as is' policy. When I finally picked the clock up the brass finish had been sprayed/damaged with a chemical cleaner and it has never kept good time since. Wish I had just adjusted this clock myself. The money involved is not important. What is important is the hubris and incompetence of these folks and their untrustworthyness. A real oddball guy. Watch for the warning flags. He thinks I have buyer's remorse. In fact, I simply prefer to deal with folks who are competent and can be trusted. In my experience, these folks are neither. Be careful.
